I dont remember it being this bad. He just could shoot 3s but within the arc he was fine (for his time). He also embraced defense while he was here. RJ has gotten better there, he's improved his FT shooting but he's not getting to the line as much either.

Thibs might need to give him a break for a night, perhaps bring him off the bench for a couple games. Hes 2nd in the league in minutes.

Same as true as last season.
He needs space to operate. Playing with Elf and Randle is detrimental to his game.
Given Randle's play, he's just going to have to learn to deal with it.
But need to replace Elf with a shooter.

And while yes - if he is so good then he should be able to play with anyone. I don't think there is anyone who doesnt recognize he has flaws. My bet that based on what we know about him is that over time he improves his shooting to a respectable level.

Kind of ... but this just means admitting he can't shoot and has to play point guard. But he also can't dribble or pass at an elite level.

Synergy says about 75% of his 3's are wide open. The eye test says the same, he bricks wide open practice 3's. If he can't make those at 38%+ or get to the line 8+ times at 80%+ then he's not getting a second contract.

Damn those are eye opening stats. I see it too which is why I say all this get him a pg talk is a cop out. He’s getting plenty of good open looks. He just can’t hit ‘em

How quickly would we have turned on Jordan? Would we have waited until his sophomore year, or would we be demanding his trade as a rookie?

Last time I can remember a player started so horrible in the season but ended strongly was Trae Young’s rookie season. Maybe RJ can do the same. But he can’t shoot so... i have my doubts

usually, you can see the signs if someone can one day be special. they may never make it but the signs are there. rj doesn't look like that. it's starting to get to the point like knox where you're just hoping for him to become useful. we might have to settle for that.

We wouldn't have fallen for that and would've run the loser out of town because he couldn't shoot 3s & he choked in the playoffs.

this is the same as last year. and when you look at his shots, they're not just missing, they look bad.

i'm wondering if they're giving him too much leeway. they put knox on the bench and made him earn his minutes and that's started to work for knox a bit. maybe they got to do that with rj too. maybe if he knew he might get yanked out of the game he would make better decisions.

no we wouldn't. nobody really cared about 3s back then. it would be like us being unhappy with luka's 1st year or bron's. we'd be thrilled. there's no comparison.

1) Different era.
2) He was a proven player before he arrived in NY: x1 All-NBA 1st team, x3 All-Star.

You really don't think we would have turned on Luka by now if he was ours? Our fanbases has been dragging him all season & we don't even have to watch him miss 6 3s a game

I agree. Maybe benching RJ could help him.

no. luka was an obvious superstar out the gate. you're comparing guys who are not really good at anything to guys who are obvious all time greats out the gate. this fanbase does have little patience but patience is not gonna turn rj into that no matter how long we wait.

I'm not comparing RJ to anyone. I'm comparing Knicks fans to knicks fans.
