They got Boucher out with 3 phantom fouls. We don't have any go to plays to end games. Just hand it to your worst creator and have him take a long fade away two as he tries desperately to avoid contact. Siakam is just dumb. If he just barrels in there with a long stretch we have a decent shot at a make-up call.

Yes, they did take Boucher out with bull but we had no shot at a makeup call. Ed Malloy orchestrated all that - we lose suspicious close games with him all the time. If Pascal had gone into the lane he could have breathed on someone and it would have either been a no call or offensive.

I dont see it fred was better at the same age.
also find his defence overrated..he's a 6'2 guard he got credit from playing on a good defensive college team. anyways he's a 6'2 guard that cant get by anybody without a screen.
we already got two 6'2 guards the team doesnt need another especially he isnt a playmaker flynn has shown hes more of a scorer thus far.

He made Oubre miss an 8 foot shot over him.
He had 3 assists and zero turnovers.

Re: Malachi Flynn
I still like Flynn, but he has some things to work on and his size looks like it will be more of an issue for him than Kyle and Fred.
I don't get the arguments between him and Fred though, they each have different strengths and we should be glad they're both on our team.
One thing I noticed about Flynn, that I'm sure he'll overcome eventually is that he doesn't seem comfortable if he's pressured when bringing up the ball. Also, he seems to lose his balance a bit out there. I'm attributing that to getting acclimated to the speed and size of NBA players. I'm sure he'll adjust. I still like the way he generates good looks for himself and teamates.

Re: Malachi Flynn
yeah, noticed the same thing for a few games now. he gets bothered by size and still needs to gain some added strength/speed himself to beat that press. and its early days for him acclimating to the speed of the pro game versus college. needs to gain some confidence in his own ability and not worrying about bricking and getting immediately benched.
but he'll get there in time. his mind and ability to run a team are his best attributes and aren't things you can teach. he's a useful player. just gotta keep playing him and letting him play through mistakes.

masai and bobby would be goat drafters if malachi turns out to be the same as FVV or better.
this doesn't happen often. we are already banking on TD to be the next undrafted gem
you can't keep hitting homeruns like this.

If TD were being paid $10 million right now, I would choose him over Powell and give him consistent minutes.

Flynn looked good in the preseason, but so far he's been ok and nothing special. Probably another solid role player at best, and I can't be mad because he was a late pick anyways

Re: Malachi Flynn
Flynn screams a little too much Delon Wright. He has tools to keep him in the league a long time, but in terms of being any sort of impact guy it's tough. Obviously projects to be a much better shooter than Delon, but don't see the shot creation ability and when you're small your defensive impact simply isn't going to be that impactful.

While I won't argue with you on the Boucher bit, I do want to point out that you need to see the last possession again. This was more about the genius of Draymond Green who first communicated the action that the Raptors were going to run. Before the ball is imbounded, he already communicated the FVV backscreen and direct Kelly O, then denies OG in the paint. This wasn't a play for Siakam at all but they had to give it to him to avoid a 5 second and there were no more timeouts left.
The ball ended up in Siakam's hands and they overplayed his drive, the defense was collapsed to help. He retreated to a fadeaway. Not an ideal shot, but he still got a clean look and was balanced shooting it. Just missed.

Re: Malachi Flynn
Flynn looks good. Getting a legit backup point guard with the 28th pick is a success and I'm confidant that this is his floor.
Without Kyle next year....our backcourt is looking good with Fred and Malachi.
For all the love he's been getting (it's been pretty hilarious tbh).....I bet he eventually becomes a relatively underappreciated player. Like Fred....he's not the type of guy who gets much fanfare from casual fans. But I'm betting he'll be a solid guy for us.

Yea all in all with 4.3 left getting a clean look regardless where from is a win. That shot was half down and was a fairly good look IMO. Siakams mid range game has been solid this year so I don’t hate the look.
That obviously wasn’t the first choice, but what else are you gonna do when everything else gets blown up

Lowry had the easy pass to FVV with Looney on him. FVV fakes a shot and drives to the lane and then you'd essentially have a 2 on 1 vs Draymond. Did Kyle not want FVV to be the hero after Fred telling him to wake up to start the 4th quarter?
Lowry choked. OG had a step on Draymond for a lob pass for a layup or dunk. Or dump it to FVV. FVV would just easily take Looney off the dribble.

that's right..4.3 secs..there is no absolute way for Pascal to drive that fast..good shot..wish he didnt spin but I get why he did it..possibility wanted Wiggins to bite on his fake..it is what it is..internal growth

Lowry was sleepwalking through most of the game, but in the fourth he brought Toronto back. Hard to say that he was not intent on winning and making the right play.
Yes, Lowry could have passed it to FVV but he would have had to dribble along the sideline to get past Looney which could have a turnover or at least eat up clock while not attacking and getting closer to the basket. Not to mention the guy guarding the inbound could rotate and trap FVV in the corner.
Then even if FVV gets free of Looney within two to three seconds FVV would have to execute a perfect lob pass over Draymond Green. I don't think you want to have an action where you want to put the ball in OG hands against a DPOY guy. With Draymond as the help man and at the rim you avoid anything involving him. I think we would be madder if we didn't even get a clean shot off, which I think would be likely if we went with FVV.
I think Lowry rightly went with Siakam who was only matched against Wiggins and did get a good shot, and his mid-range game has been pretty solid overall this year.

Re: Malachi Flynn
People saying that Fred looked better than Malachi at the same age must not remember that Fred barely played in his first season and was far from NBA ready. He only appeared in 37 games that season and averaged 8 mpg, as he spent the bulk of his time with the 905 his rookie season. We can't underestimate the impact of not having the 905 to help develop Malachi is going to have in the short term.

what is this conjecture.
Fred often has trouble creating his shot vs lengthy defenders that's why kyle looked him off.

nobody wants a backourt with 2 6 foot guards. i have no qualms however with him being a backup pg but like i said his playmaking isn't what fans billed it as.
