George Hill is a grown man, and has a right to feel how he does. However, I strongly disagree. Like so many people, he's looking at this from a "me" perspective, as opposed to a "we" perspective. The reason for the protocols is so the NBA can continue to function as a business, true. But, it's also to prevent the spreading of the virus, not just to the players, but FROM the players as well. One of these players catches covid, and takes it back to their family/friends...it's a problem.

If any players feel that strongly about socializing, that's fine. Than make the personal choice to just sit out the season. If you feel that being responsible is too heavy a burden, don't afflict others with your shortsightedness. Any person with common sense would know that the NBA would adapt, depending on how things transpired with this pandemic.

George, OKC doesn't need you to play to tank and when you're playing, you're doing it too well for that. Go see your family, man!

He has a right not to play if he wants, but you better forfeit that money you're getting paid while you're at it.

Not sure where you work, but if you can't even voice your displeasure with your employers covid steps you may want to consider a different employer.

Now... after voicing your concern, your employer may give you an ultimatum and then you got a choice to make... but you should be able to at least voice your concern.

I should’ve said previous employer as I now run my own company. But I worked as an employee for 16 years so know what it’s like on both sides.

I agree employees can voice concerns and believe me, mine did. But once I sat down and explained it to them, they agreed about the steps we had to take (mainly government legislated) and we moved on.

George Hill knows why the NBA is doing what they’re doing and should know better.

This covid thing is definitely getting out of control and I'm not talking about the transmission of the virus. Encouraging the reprimanding of players for breaking protocols which btw only validates the unconstitutional powers of federal govt, snitching on your fellow man to authorities for celebrating a family gathering without a mask. What is this the gestapo of nazi germany? Right now ppl still seem to be okay for the most part bc ppl are still optimistic that the pandemic will eventually go away but what if it doesnt go away for any foreseeable future. What if the narrative gets pushed by the media that the virus is constantly mutating and thus there is no feasible solution to cure the spread of virus in spite of vaccine inoculations. The possibility of another year goes by and not only are we are still wearing masks everywhere we go, secluded from our friends and families, prohibited from entering stores leaving the country w/o proof of vaccination, prohibited from working job unless vaccinated, all venues concerts and sporting events get cancelled.what then? Will the citizens of America and around the world continue to accept the new norm and still comply and abide by the rules from the govt or will they rise up and revolt? I think the average intelligent person can infer that we have been suckered and by that point it might be too late.

Comes off as one of the most entitled players in the league and this is the second time he’s wanted to cancel the season for everyone.

Like anyone will miss George Hill when he’s retired.

That's just perfect. Another guy who talks about how much he values his community who then endangers people because he really needs to party.

Looks like he knows how to play the game though. If you want to duck your responsibility, just attach something emotional to your complaint ("my family", racism, social justice, equality) and then blame some sort of higher system "in control", and the public will let you have it because they want to appear to be understanding of your terrible plight. Amazing how so many people have been desensitized to this ploy and how out of touch NBA players are.

BTW, if someone is having a hard time with life, go ahead and just admit it and own your problem. Don't try to blame "the system" to get you what you want. George Hill can easily tell his team and the public "I gotta opt out for the safety of my family" and he'll get support and be able to do what he wants. Him making a complaint like he's being forced to do something is just an attempt to get his salary and still not play. It's the ultimate in entitlement.

Why weren’t players given the option to opt out of playing this season if they wanted? That’s one of the things the nfl got right.

Why the hypocrisy? You're ready to side with and blame anyone and everyone for not following Covid regulations, make it extra political etc but when you're the one who is inconvenienced, suddenly you're up in arms. All these privileged Aholes are the same..

its easy to talk like this when your in the twilight of ur nba career & that same league has grossed you over a 100million in career earnings
Im sure young george hill on a rookie deal would be more in tune with following the protocols to make his check.

Just to be clear, I think any player who says right now they want to opt out should have the option to do it. No one who is afraid, or more importantly is unable to follow the protocols, ought to be there. This is a hard time for everyone and its gotta be stressful to be part of this.

My issue is more with trying to blame others and not take responsibility for yourself. That type of attitude is how you sink the ship for everyone.

If George Hill doesn't want to play or wants to hang out with whomever he pleases, that is on him, but he can't complain about the NBA not allowing him to do it to preserve the safety of others and to keep the season going.

I’m sorry to hear that. Wishing you much success and wealth in the future. I lost my job last April and I just now finally got a job after applying to over 100 companies (and not even hearing back from the vast majority). I have strong pedigree too. It’s just that there’s THAT many people in the same boat.

Keep fighting, keep pushing. You’ll get an even better car this year!
