It's like people never heard of risk assessment before 2020. Everyday of your life before the media and government told you that you are capable of getting an individual sick people did so without a thought in their heads. Now the chances are slightly higher of doing so and we have all lost our collective minds. Every time you leave your house since the dawn of human history we've had the potential to do harm to out follow humans. It's unfortunate and will likely always be the case. We can't afford to just never interact with each other forever.

No play.... no pay.

They all signed up for that. And the players were against having another bubble.

I hope you do not perform risk assessments for a living.

The COVID situation has gotten out of control within the Nba and it’s clearly obvious teams/nba can’t control what players do in their own time . Seems like players are also frustrated.

We might get a notice that season is suspended if it keeps going like this.

Is the NBA saying he can't see his family? From https://www.nba.com/news/nba-nbpa-update-health-and-safety-protocols

Away-from-work interactions are limited to those with household members, family and any personal staff working regularly in the home.

This is dumb, Hill knew the protocols going in and he had the option to opt out.
If he wants to be free to do "whatever he wants" he should have sat out the season.
This is just more individualistic thinking that is plaguing are country now.

This goes for all the players who feel like they're being prevented from living their normal life (newsflash... All of us are and are not being paid millions in the process). You knew what you signed up for when your union voted to play. If you don't like it then you're free to leave, it's as simple as that. Stop whining already about these first world problems, it's a really ugly look and looks especially bad considering the real life hardships many people are going through.

It’s not slightly higher. Good god the misinformation is frightening. In normal years, an average of about 8000 Americans die daily from regular causes.

The states are now averaging about 3500 daily deaths just from COVID.

It’s extremely simple for the rest of the world. Isolate and follow safe rules for a bit of time and save lots of lives. The collective selfishness of Americans is astounding.

That's just perfect. Another guy who talks about how much he values his community who then endangers people because he really needs to party.

Looks like he knows how to play the game though. If you want to duck your responsibility, just attach something emotional to your complaint ("my family", racism, social justice, equality) and then blame some sort of higher system "in control", and the public will let you have it because they want to appear to be understanding of your terrible plight. Amazing how so many people have been desensitized to this ploy and how out of touch NBA players are.

BTW, if someone is having a hard time with life, go ahead and just admit it and own your problem. Don't try to blame "the system" to get you what you want. George Hill can easily tell his team and the public "I gotta opt out for the safety of my family" and he'll get support and be able to do what he wants. Him making a complaint like he's being forced to do something is just an attempt to get his salary and still not play. It's the ultimate in entitlement.
......or maybe that's how he feels at the moment, lol

Really annoying how some people think sacrificing a little bit for the benefit of society is the worst thing ever. Little sense of societal responsibility remaining in the United States

Yup... which is why Americans seem to have little care to change any bit of their lives (until something happens to a family member) despite the fact that almost 400,000 Americans have now died, and making small sacrifices could have avoided the bulk of those deaths.

Man is that refreshing to hear. Who would have thought that the vets would be the irresponsible ones and the young players the sensible ones but here we are.

The way I see it George Hill has the same two options that every other employee of a business has after they've voiced their concerns and been overruled:

1. He can decide to just do his job and abide by the rules of the employer.
2. He can quit his job and hope that some other company will want to hire him. In Hill's case he can sit out the season without payment and live as he pleases until the league has relaxed the safety measures.

He's allowed to see his family based on the league rules so he's using family to gain sympathy for whatever his true reason is behind the tweet. Maybe he wants to party or whatever and is upset about it. Saying you can't see your family is a lot easier for people to sympathize with than saying you want to just do what you please all the time.

Unfortunately for George Hill, the NBA is the employer and they've made these rules to hopefully be able to have a full season and not cause mass infections. He needs to decide whether he wants to play this season or sit at home. I support either decision but I don't really want to hear his complaining.

Funny, I have those same restrictions where I live and I don’t make millions per year. Suck it up man.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Well that’s fantastic, because once a vaccine is available you don’t have to! Hell, if you wouldn’t have been stupid in the first month or two of the virus it’s more than likely you wouldn’t have to be restricted as much anymore either.

No one is saying this is forever. It’s a temporary thing.

EH15 wrote:Contrast this with what Dame said today. Would George Hill be saying this if he was on the Lakers?

Exactly... I think most players get it and like Dame and doing their part, even if it's not a lot of fun. The rules are being applied evenly... it's a 2 week trial. It's a business and they are trying to keep their employees healthy so their business functions.

When his (Hill's) selfish behavior can/will make others sick and miss work, what gives him the right to do that. If he doesn't like the rules, sit out and forfeit his checks. I have no tolerance for this behavior.

We've also got players in the NBA testing positive for COVID a second time. What an ****.

Show of hands, is there anyone here who isn't making daily sacrifices either at work or in their personal lives as a result of COVID?
