Harden is certainly pulling a Vince Carter tank job. Maybe not as severe but its clear he is coasting.

I would just sit him and wait till the trade like how New Orleans did with AD. To AD's credit he didnt dog it on his way out but the distractions were becoming extra. So the team decided to just leave AD at home and not play.

Ha. I knocked Embiid for not being able to carry a team, and then that night he carries his team. Good on you, Joel. (Although to need overtime to beat a Heat team without Butler, Bam, or Goran is kinda sad. But still, 45 points and a win is 45 points and a win.)

They have got to just trade him ASAP. Harden is basically doing everything he can to get traded. The antics before the season started. He is clearly overweight (Thic Ross) and his numbers are down all around besides assists. Basically because he cant be bothered.

I am just curious to see how long they play games with this.

The problem is who offers anything worthwhile? But, yeah, bad situation.

Sixers with a package around Simmons. Simmons is probably the best player Houston can get right now and for Philly, Embiid is playing the best I've ever seen him play and I don't know if Philly wants to wait for Simmons to figure it all out.

Thing is, I'm not sure that Simmons fits with Wall or Wood. More than that, I'm not sure that Philly is looking to trade Simmons.

A package built around Brandon Ingram would make a lot of sense for both teams, but New Orleans isn't on Harden's list.

Still, it's the best thing that I can come up with - something like Ingram (27.2M); Reddick (13M); Kira Lewis (3.6M) and 1 to 2 protected future firsts (where the Pelicans still have 2 future Jrue Holiday picks) for Harden (40.8M) and House (3.7M) makes a lot of sense to me, value wise. I think Harden's value has dropped since the start of the season with his antics or I would have thought more was needed. Pelicans would have a very strong roster:

PG: Bledsoe/Ball
SG: Harden, NAW, Thornwell
SF: Hart/House
PF: Zion, Melli, Gabriel
CC: Adams, Hayes, Hernangomez

Meanwhile, Houston would be left with building blocks in Ingram along with Wood, the veteran Wall (who looks much better than he did before), etc. But I'm not sure that Harden wants anything other than to be paired with another VETERAN superstar - or two. Zion along with solid players like Adams, Bledsoe/Ball, Hart... may not be "good enough" for what he is looking for. And would New Orleans be willing to make the move.

The only move that might make sense to have that happen would be, with Wiggins (barely) improving his value, a Wiggins + Wiseman plus some very-down-the-line protected 1sts for Harden, maybe Boogie too (if tradeable)...

Herro with 34 points and Precious looking like another late round gem for the Heat with 17/13/3, plus Gabe Vincent (who?) starting and dropping 24...

Maybe the Heat are really good at identifying talent. Or maybe also they are just really well coached. Or maybe this is a case of "embracing the power of "and"."

Anyway, while Danny Green had a bounce back offensive game, the Sixers have got to be concerned about the lack of defensive effort.

I'm just hoping Harden come to the East. He's gonna f-up whatever team he lands on (Philly, MIL, MIA).

I can't wait to see Kyrie, Harden, and KD on the same team. There's obviously a lot of talent there, but the drama and dysfunction... :droop:

I'm wondering if Kyrie wears out his welcome in BKN and they just swap him for Harden.

Some of each, plus in any NBA game somebody will score. Even The Process Sixers sometimes had pretty good scoring games. Defending the opposition never really happened, though.

Wall and Simmons? Talk about a horrible fit. Two ball-dominating non-shooters who both want to be the alpha dog.

What does that mean? I doubt James Harden wants to stay & rescinding his trade request like Vince Carter.

And I'm not making it up, Sam Mitchell (Raptors' HC) & Rob Babcock (Raptors' GM) confirmed it.

There was an incident where Vince was telling the other team what play they were gonna run out of time out. He also went from averaging something like 17ppg to 25ppg when he was finally moved to the Nets.

It is pretty well documented that Vince was dogging it.

There is no evidence for Vince telling plays during Raptor-Sonics game despite it happened over 15 years ago. Ray Allen, who guarded Vince, never heard anything. Nor did any of Raptors players. The Raptors scored off the play in question, which Vince assisted. That rumor didn’t come out after the game, but several months later, right after Vince was traded to Nets.

https://www.cbc.ca/sports/basketball/did-carter-tip-off-sonics-on-play-selection-1.506817

Also, Vince was still in a bad form even after getting traded to Nets. It's clearly he didn't mailing it in for the Raptors

Vince's first 10 games with the Nets: 41 minutes, 20.9/6.3/3.7 on 49.8% TS
Per 36: 18.2/5.5/3.2

Vince's 20 games with the Raptors: 30 minutes, 15.9/3.3/3.1 on 47.5% TS
Per 36: 18.8/3.9/3.6

thanks for following up with the numbers. I could have sworn he averaged more but I guess it was after he settled in with the Nets.

Regarding the Sonics incident,
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/did-carter-slip-secrets-to-opponents/article1009144/
"With 29 seconds remaining in that game and the Sonics leading 97-90, the Raptors returned to the court after a timeout and Carter was facing the Sonics' bench.

According to the newspaper, an unidentified member of the Sonics said that before the play began, Carter said directly to the Seattle bench: "It's a flare. It's a flare."

Two other members of the Sonics, the newspaper said, confirmed that Carter told the Sonics' bench that the Raptors were running the flare play, a common inbounds play in which a player sets a screen so a teammate can cut to an open area on the floor and receive a pass.

The Raptors, who were inbounding the ball above the Sonics' bench, then ran a flare play for Carter, who received a pass from Morris Peterson. Carter was unable to get a shot off and passed the ball to Matt Bonner, who hit a 22-foot shot from the top of the key."

Ray and Jalen may not have heard or believed it, but that was what was reported at the time and was credible enough to print.

Either way. I like Vince and he became a fantastic vet for a ton of teams down the line.

Disappointing to see 2 teams in our division get involved in the trade and improve their teams. Cavs getting Jarrett Allen for pennies and Pacers making a good long-term move with Oladipo for Levert.
