I'd imagine he'd very quickly make case for being first guard off the bench with his play. I'm VERY happy with Cam off the bench but Haliburton would've outplayed him as the lead PG behind CP3. He's really damn good, awful looking shooting form but damn good PG

Cam literally has better numbers per 36 in every category points assists rebounds etc, so I highly doubt Halliburton would have gotten those minutes as a rook on this team

How much better? Remember, Cam plays 18mpg while Haliburton plays almost 30mpg so extrapolating to per36 for Cam is problematic.

Per 100 possessions would better show what each player does with their possessions

Payne v Haliburton
Points: 21.5 v 20.0
Assist: 12.1 v 9.1
Rebounds: 6.9 v 4.3
Steals: 1.9 v 2.3
Turnover: 3.7 v 1.7
Assist to Turnover ratio: 3.27 v 5.35
FG%: .500 v .522
3P%: .429 v .500
TS%: .597 v .683

They are pretty damn close and Haliburton has the efficiency and A:T ratio advantage. Cam also plays with significantly better team mates vs whatever they have in Sacramento.

Cam plays primarily with the second unit while Haliburton plays primarily ith Sacramento starters, I don't think our 2nd unit is better than their starting unit.

It's not that Jalen Smith is a bad pick, but the players drafted behind him looks really, really solid so far. Halliburton is no joke, Cole Anthony's defense and speed looks promising, and Maxey looks like a steal right now. The Suns badly need a power forward, so I can understand the pick. But they need a point guard even worse. I wish Jones stick to his original plan of drafting a playmaker.

Haliburton has started 1 game. Fox, Hield and Barnes start.

That's fine if those guys start but at almost 30 minutes a game you are playing with the 1st unit a lot of those minutes

How the NBA isn't shutting down the Wizards for at least a week seeing as they are a superspreader team is beyond me.

So is it going to be Brooklyn or Philly?

I still think the Rockets would be better off fleecing the Nets. LeVert/Dinwiddie/Allen/Prince for Harden/Tucker. Because that package is talentwise way superior to Philly's reported offer, less draft picks would need to be included. LeVert is the real deal. Despite playing with Irving and Durant, he has still found a way to average 19 points and 6 assists on super solid percentages. Allen has become a beast. Still really young and a walking double-double, the kid is exactly where you would want a 22 year old C to be in terms of development. Dinwiddie provides depth at PG for Wall.....or can be sent elsewhere in the offseason for additional assets. Prince is pretty much filler to make the money work, but does provide some more established depth at PF.

Wall/Dinwiddie
LeVert/Gordon
House/Nwaba
Wood/Prince
Allen/Cousins

To me that is a hell of a lot better than adding Simmons/Thybulle and filler with a load of picks.

I also think that the Rockets pass on taking Irving (Even though Brooklyn is said to be offering him up). You dont replace a messed up in the head crazy player with another messed up in the head crazy player! Grab the package of proven young talent that works and plays hard and build from there. Let Brooklyn implode from having both Irving and Harden on the same team and sit back and laugh.

From Woj - three team deal:

Reporting w/ @RamonaShelburne: Brooklyn’s acquiring James Harden in a three-way deal with Cleveland. Caris LeVert, Dante Exum, Rodions Kurucs, four 1st round picks – including Cavs’ 2022 first via Bucks -- and 4 Nets pick swaps to Rockets. Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince to Cavs. twitter.com/wojespn/status…

and now Shams adds this part of it - wow

The Indiana Pacers are moving Victor Oladipo to the Rockets for package around Caris LeVert, sources tell

Maybe McGee gets waived now and we can upgrade our starting center?

(*Kind of joking....*)

But actually, Allen for a late first round pick is pretty good value.

Rockets screwed themselves. Im sorry, but draft picks are a gamble. You are first gambling on how high they are, and then gambling on the drafted player actually being good. LeVert and Allen are NBA PROVEN! And you let the two best pieces from the Nets go to other teams for Oladipo (Who isnt as good or young as LeVert) a few salary filler players who will be out the league in a matter of years, and a buttload of draftpicks??? Stupid Rockets! Pacers are the big winners of this trade.

Agreed. I'd much rather have Allen and LeVert than Oladipo.
