at least this keeps the Rockets competitive. need someone to unseat the Mavs, however little that chance may be

I wondered about that as well. Maybe since they have Danuel House and Eric Gordon signed for a few years already and Dipo is an expiring contract that comes off of their books this summer.

Nets should swap Kyrie Minogue for Westbrook.

They won't.

They don't fit together, 3 guys who all need the ball in their hands.

I don't necessarily dispute this, but the East isn't full of barn burners Bucks, 6er's, Heat and Celtics are all pretty flawed. They might chuck themselves out of the playoffs and I'll be the first one to cheer it on but they might also score 138 points a game and end up against the Lakers who are a 2 person show.

Lots can go wrong, massive injury risk to Kyrie and KD. Kyrie or Harden might have any variety of mental meltdowns. If their offense is just huge amounts of chuck and duck with no defense they can end up on a 0-17 like Houston did and just find themselves losing to variance.

My point is 1 title makes the 8 picks worth it for Brooklyn because they have nothing. No history, no fans, no credibility. The Knicks have no shot at a title for the next 4-5 years either so it's not like we can get one back to mute theirs.

Because Dipo peaks higher when healthy and they're desperate to make the playoffs this year? :dontknow:

idk, I like LeVert better. younger, cheaper, under team control longer, and when he was given the keys, he balled

Caris is the safer pick because of all that -- which is why the Pacers leapt at it -- but even when he was given the keys, he didn't hit the same peaks that VO did before his injuries. If he & Wall are healthy again & stay that way for the rest of the season...and Wood tearing it up...they've kinda got an interesting thing going. Can totally see them going on a bit of a run here & pushing into a playoff spot.

Anyone else worried about Dolan and his timetable really accelerating now.
Nets steal headlines with a superstar demanding to play there.

Nets came out just fine w/ this deal.

LaVert was a damn nut coming off the bench this yr. Low efficiency, terrible shots, and wasn’t really playing team ball. Allen & the picks were only thing of significance.

The 2024 and 2026 1st rounders are iffy, more so the 2026 1st. I think Nets will still have at least KD and Harden in 2024 so I don’t envision that 1st being in the lotto that year. 2026 is too far to predict so we’ll see.

As for the picks swaps, I think people forget that it’s a SWAP, Nets will still have their own 1st rounder or Houston’s. In 2021 and 2023 the Nets will have the better record and keep their pick. I’m 2025 and 2027 is more unpredictable, but same can be said about Houston. It’s not like the Rockets have a bright future, and there is a chance they decide not to use the swap.

Nets went all in on a title in the next 4-5 years, risky but if they win 1-2 championships it could be worth it.

Unintended benefit for the Knicks: Rockets have improved with this trade (Harden was a dark cloud) so I expect them to fight for that 8th seed the rest of the way which should decrease the Mavs chances ever so slightly... silver lining...

All the Nets have to do is rest 1 player with Lebron when he goes to the bench, and have 2 go up against Anthony Davis when he's on the court by himself.

I’d honestly be open to trading everything outside of our 2021pick for Bradley Beal.

I think so or they wouldn't give up maxey. Seems as if that leaked to get the nets to finish this deal up today.

The oladipo piece is confusing...I guess they just didn't like Levert...but Oladipo is expiring I would think Levert had more value long term. Maybe there owner wants future cap space if they are tanking.

And Oladipo could be a trade deadline piece
