Jarett Allen

Post#1 » by KidDynamit » Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:09 pm

Did the Cavs pay a MIL 1st(basically a 2nd round) and Dante Exum for one of the best young center in the league?

Help me understand how we should not have been in on this?

Center is our weakest position. I would have loved Allen in Toronto.

Because Masai didnt want to give up a 1st and a big contract extension to Allen.

The poor guy went from coming off the bench because of a washed De’Andre Jordan. To now being buried on the bench because of Andre Drummond.

Under appreciated talent..

It makes sense for the Cavs because they can afford to pay him. He will be a great fit with their backcourt.

Cavs are looking like they actually have a solid nice young core now. Allen, Sexton, Garland, and Okoro is a pretty damn good foundation for the future

I feel the same as the OP, our team is desperate for a decent C. Surely we could have made a slightly more attractive offer. Ohh well, onto the next pipe dream.

It was actually an expiring and likely a very late first for Allen and Prince(who is not considered a great contract)
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

also clevelend didnt just give up a 1st, they also gave up a 2nd, and used a TPE to make the math work in the 4 team trade.

prince for exum
allen into thier TPE from jordan clarkson trade last year
2nd round pick to pacers
1st (bucks pick next year) to houston.

Baynes 2.0
Well, not as bad as Baynes, but overrated on this board. I am not sure the last 5 games he started was trade bait or he really deserved to be a starter in a contender team.

The ability to use the TPE is what made the trade balance - it allowed Nets to send out enough but Indiana and Houston to take back less. That’s why we couldn’t get in on it - the TPE is an asset.

Ainge isn't giving anyone anything lol. They have a trade exception and that's all the Cavs will get lol.

Baynes has dreamt about having a 7'5.5'' wingspan his entire career.
Baynes wishes he was born in freaking '98 and could jump out of the gym
Sorry, who is that Baynes 2.0 character you are referring to?

They lost the 2nd best player in NBA history for nothing and rebuilt in basically 2 years. When they are healthy there isn't much difference between them and the Raptors. By next year they will be definitively better and still have real upside.

For all the people who think a rebuild takes 7 years and if you don't get the #1 pick you are screwed.
alienchild wrote:Again, I hope the basketball gods give us the 14th pick in the draft. I hope OG asks for a trade, Birch signs elsewhere and GTJ signs an offer sheet and Raptors don't match. Frankly Masai is dead to me.

Wouldn’t he though? Their TPE is the biggest one in NBA history

$28,500,000 is the TPE

drmmond makes $28,751,775

nba allows you to fudge up to $250,000

so the tpe falls short $1,775 dollars
