RJ’s bad numbers stem from his shooting and the fact that is he is forcing it right now. But the problem with the Knicks is outside of Randle and Burke we have no shot creators. Knox, Payton, Bullock and Mitch can’t create a shot, so when the defense stalls we go to RJ. But with this trash spacing he can’t even get to the rim. Hopefully Burks comes back soon, so RJ can play a lesser role

 Omigod, you're evil!

I'm starting to wonder if they were talking about you in this classic scene from Alien

Spoiler:
Ash : You still don't understand what you're dealing with, do you? The perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility.

Lambert : You admire it.

Ash : I admire its purity. A survivor... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality.

Parker : Look, I am... I've heard enough of this, and I'm asking you to pull the plug.

[Ripley goes to disconnect Ash, who interrupts]

Ash : Last word.

Ripley : What?

Ash : I can't lie to you about your chances, but... you have my sympathies.

No, this is 100% false.

He isn't forcing it. He's taking wide open uncontested looks and per Second Spectrum he's shooting 17.8% on catch and shoot 3s.

RJ takes .5 3's off the dribble or pull up

RJ takes 4.1 3's in catch and shoot

So he's overwhelmingly taking the easier 3's even if you filter out heaves.

And he is still one of the worst shooters in the league who still is allowed to play minutes and shoot.

The eye test backs this up, get a bottle of vodka and if you can stand it watch the Charlotte game. The 3's he's taking are literally an NBA teams wet dream, uncontested catch and shoots for your "Shooting" guard right behind the line. Charlotte is playing a 8th grade 2-3 zone and just laughing at our roster and letting them take practice shots.

I see RJ being a decent shooter at best. He needs to focus on being a scorer. Attack the basket more and take more mid-range shots instead of 3s. Being able to score in a variety of ways is the best route for RJ.

What's RJ's middle name?

He needs a three item bust name like MKG but unlike SGA

Alexander.

It's hard to attack the basket when your defender is standing 5 feet back from you filing their nails. Oh and your point guard, power forward and center also can't shoot and their defenders are playing spades in the lane as well.

Exactly RJ was born in wrong era he should have been on Larry browns pistons era.

Larry Brown would have made RJ cry. 15th man and DNPs

Herro dropped another 30 piece

Watch RJ play super passive tommorow being on Nat TV against Durant

It's bad when someone like me is right.

Mills and Perry didn't do **** when scouting for this draft.

RJ is just absolutely cold. This 3rd qtr proves it that he can still score. He's 20 years old, give him some time. The team around his is a horrible fit.

Everyone always said they could wait for a rebuild if the Knicks did it right(after years and years of botched and terrible fast track trades for old 'stars'), and now they are and ya'll call players busts after a season and a some games.

The answer is still no.

He went 5-6 in the third quarter.

RJ could become a decent shooter in the future but will Dolan give him chance for that I mean this guy dumped Phil Jackson in 1 year after getting a talent like KP.

RJ is shooting 36% FG and 18% 3pt this season and is a 62% career FT shooter. That's not even a rookie's average this season. Especially not a sophmore's average neither.

LaMelo Ball, who's a rookie and was considered a terrible shooter is nailing 41% FG 35% 3pt as a rookie. If RJ Barrett shot at this level consistently he would the be considered decent.

Right now, RJ Barrett is ultimately a bust. Does nothing amazing and is a master of nothing.

He's a poor version of RJ Jefferson with more gravity because RJ doesn't even explode to the rim at that level.

Kevin Knox hitting jumpshots now and it makes RJ expendable because if we draft Suggs, whats the use for RJ? I would play him a lot of minutes this season just to max out his value and trade him for a team dumb enough to take him. Maybe we can do what Dallas did to use with Dennis Smith Jr. I would not be surprised to see RJ's career follow Dennis Smith if he doesn't improve his shooting. Maybe I'm hard on him but RJ hasn't show he can lead even potentially. He's a beta.

He better learn to shoot. He does a lot of things well but this is a shooter's league.

He can maybe reach really good role player status, but I don’t love his chances of being a star. He’s still largely the same player we saw at Duke.. inefficient shot happy wing

He needs to stop chucking threes and work on his midrange game. He doesn't have NBA 3pt range. I doubt he'll ever be more than a poor to mediocre 3pt shooter. Also, I'd like to see more post ups from him. He's strong enough that if he add and array of post moves, (ala kobe bryant) it would make him more dangerous.
