I hate this league. Makes me **** sick. It absolutely blows my mind that these franchises don't play hard ball with these prima donna bitch ass players.

I'm happy about this trade. Gets three of my five least favorite players, almost ever, on one team to unabashedly root against.

Objectively, I simply don't believe they will win unless they swap in some ring-chasers somehow (which is of course still a definite possibility). And after the 3 Amigos inevitably collapse, the franchise will be destitute.

What would playing hard ball do?

The Rockets wouldn't get a better return by waiting and Harden ran his course. This was the best move for the Rockets. They got back as much as you can reasonably ask a team to give up.

Yeah, I don't think these guys will win either. The trade sure makes those Rocket picks the Thunder own more valuable though doesn't it. Which is, of course, why you are screwing yourself when you trade out so far into the future.

If they don't have no personality hiccups, I think they will.

If if it works out, they have a huge chance win the chip. Id bet Vegas agrees. They have roster spots to fill so I am sure we will have ring chasers out there that will go there. And dont forget they will have the injured player exemption to use on a player as well. They are easy favorites.

First of all, I never take the threats of these children to leave seriously, because of the 10s of millions of dollars they'd lose by leaving as FAs.

I'm just really, really, really suck of the prima donnas that exert their influence over the league. It's pathetic to me how the teams cater to them. Granted, I don't know a ton about the returning players, but I'm just sick of teams even entertaining trade requests, let alone behaving as if they matter. Make these bums leave 10s of millions on the table when they reach FA. I bet more than half of them would re-sign with the teams they ask to be traded from. Soon enough, you'd see such nauseating requests cease to be made, at least publicly.

It really really reduces the entertainment value of the league to me.

Kyrie Iriving is already AWOL and no one knows what the hell is going on. James Harden is probably 20lbs overweight, and looks like he just punted on his basketball career. KD is returning from an Achilles and while his offensive touch looks good, his defense took a big hit. The other two guys, even if they show up and are ready to go are very poor defenders. They won't be able to stop anyone.

They generally don't lose money by leaving though. The primary difference is the one extra guaranteed year, and superstars figure they'll just get that year later anyway. Hell, KD and Thompson (whom isn't even a superstar) got the max even knowing they wouldn't play the next season and just hoping they returned to form after that.

Beyond that, Harden has already banked 300M in guaranteed money. He'll be 33 next contract and there's a fair chance Houston wouldn't give him a better deal than any other team at that age anyway, so there is no guarantee that Harden lost any money at all.

Houston is the big loser if they don't trade him:
1: They're in a worse position to rebuild
2: They have a disgruntled guy absolutely destroying their team by tanking his play and the chemistry and your coach

There's literally no benefit for Houston in dragging this out except trying to be vindictive and sticking it to James Harden, and no reasonable business man is going to break his nose to spite his face and tank his franchise for two years just to make James Harden (or any other star in the same boat) miserable.

Big flaws but it was expected - the depth chart explodes. Let’s be honest - they don’t need to do much more than focus in May to beat any team, but obviously each guy has issues, and they have zero defensive specialists. They obviously need role players, but they can also score their way to a championship, especially if the summer playoffs are as kooky as last year’s bubble.

I think they’ll get knocked in the ECFs, and come back next year with Dinwiddie, the big 3 in better shape, and an MLE signing.

Agreed, though Dinwiddie is in an interesting spot. He's now torn both ACLs. He has a 12 million player option next year, and is only 27. It's likely he opts in, but as this season plays out, who knows what happens with this circus. He might opt out - someone might have faith in his rehab, and sign him for more than that. Other than that, I expect them to be stronger on paper next year.

That also assumes they don't collapse again if they are bumped from the playoffs.

Interesting. I think Drummond could end up in Brooklyn after a potential buyout. This is a crazy deal.

Don't you think someone would trade for him? I would trade Otto straight up for him.

There was no reason for the Pacers sending up Oladipo for the Rockets. They gave up their better player who was supposed to have a great season with a new coach and better ball movement and with good contending chances.Had he requested a trade? If not ,the Pacers got the worst part of the deal.

I doubt it. The Cavs will more than likely accept their Allen and Prince gift, and cut bait with a big man.

An EXPIRING Oladipo

Cavs got Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince for friggin' Exum (another expiring!)

Since when is LeVert better than oladipo ?? He had a long term injury obviously but he’s been good so far this season.

Oladipo was known to be upset about his new role in Indy and wasn't going to re-sign.

Fertitta is cheap and is going to pay the repeater tax if he can't shed the money.

Dipo and Exum are both expiring contracts.

Indy gets a guy who is on a new deal and unloads an expiring on a team who needs to shed contracts.
