Always puts nice numbers but always leads his team into a lottery picks.
Lost to Jimmy's bench crew while Jimmy was in Minnesota.

He can't lead a team as "the guy", but he'd make a hell of a second banana.

Anyone answering yes is honestly being kind of ignorant, and clearly does not watch Minnesota play. The roster he is playing on is an absolute dumpster fire.

He gets his stats a lot of the way Kevin Love and KG got there stats. They come within the flow of the offense but they are not players that can go and get you buckets or control games on offense. Categorize that however you want.

Re: Is KAT an empty stats player?
yes and no.
yes because well his teams have not won.
no because minny's FO has not exactly built great teams lol.
This idea that great players can do it alone is very flawed.. They can in bursts but not for whole seasons. Everyone needs help. Towns got a dude who gave a **** and tried hard in Jimmy and they made the playoffs. D'lo or Wiggins aint that.

The lack of defense with him and russel is unreal.
Playing with guys like Ricky Rubio and Juancho hernangomez does help either.

Re: Is KAT an empty stars player?
As for the answer...I always hate the term "empty stats" for guys caught on bad teams. Kobe Bryant, between winning titles with Phil and Shaq and winning them with Phil and Pau, suddenly became "empty stats" because hey, his team really sucked. In reality he didn't get worse, his team did.
That said, if any modern star got tagged with it, I could see KAT being the guy. Very very skilled, but man does he lack the grit, the grr, the leadership, and of course, the defense.
The thing is, it always bugs me that people who really watch the games continue to watch the scoreboard as some sort of indicator of individual talent. It rarely is. Any single player can play no more than 1/5 of his team's minutes, and that is if he is Wilt and plays 48 min per game. KAT plays 32. So he'd playing maybe about 15% of his team's minutes? And somehow if they win or lose is supposed to be all about him and not the guy's playing the other 85% of the minutes? In fact for years now he's had a good On/Off +/-. Not LeBron good, But his team has been considerably better when he is on the floor. It's just that the rest of the team can't keep that going when he's not.
I think there's plenty of evidence that he is not a transformative superstar, nor a driven fighting winning personality that can set a tone for a whole franchise. But that doesn't make his stats empty. He matters for them. Just not enough.

He's a Pau Gasol type dude. Let him be a #2 on a good team and he'd be $$$.

Re: Is KAT an empty stats player?
"Empty stats" refers to a player that just puts up shots for great raw stats but poor efficiency and generally bad defense.
KAT is mentally weak but he's efficient and a so-so defender.
He's Kevin Love 2.0 and would thrive with a strong leader assuming he grows up. He couldn't handle Jimmy Butler calling him out and he wilted in the playoffs.

Re: Is KAT an empty stats player?
I don't really know.
HOWEVER.
KAT puts up enormous numbers and his teams don't even sniff the playoffs. The dagger for me though, was wanting to play with his little buddy Dlo instead of pushing the FO to trade for a winner and difference maker type player. I question his maturity and desire to really win, and push people around him to win. I get a superstar player pushing his GM to trade for players that will aid a team in winning, but the fact that he pushed for a trade for a friend that clearly does not aid winning, makes me question his desire.

I can't wait till he plays second fiddle to another all-star and gets the recognition that he deserves. He can't be a number 1 on a team but he would be an amazing number 2.

Re: Is KAT an empty stats player?
Do stats only count if you’re in a big market and on a top 10 team? If his stats are the best on his team, and apparently none contribute to winning, do any of their stats matter? Do stats accumulated before the nba finals count?

Re: Is KAT an empty stats player?
Hes an Amare level player. Generational offensive big but not good enough to carry the load on a team as the sole star and is ass on defense. Cant be the best player on a serious team.
Losing to this Memphis team at home without Morant or Jjj is inexcusable. Hes not a franchise player unless your franchise is the bum ass Wolves lol

It's not the guy with the +18.7 on/off's fault.
