Yeah, no.
Not good defensively. Not good offensively. Not that young anymore. He is what he is, a rebounder who absorbs touches.

I would rather have a more rounded player, he will be good defensively, but horrible on offense. Id also be adverse to spending cap space on a player like that, rather look for a cheaper young C with high upside.

It could work in a 3-way with the Sixers. Along with the usual baggage, Sixers would send a couple of draft FRPs to Cleveland.
But why not take the draft picks for ourselves? Drummond (without Lowry) is not going to put us in the Finals, or even the ECF.
Is Drummond even worth 1 first round pick?
No. He's not good. He can still put up great rebounding numbers, but at the cost of being a black hole on offense and completely lost on defense.
He would be Dwight Howard-levels of unplayable in the playoffs or meaningful games.
Do not want.

"i'm not sure what Drummond was trying to do there"
summary of his career or his sex tape
on a more serious note though: Cleveland has the 2nd/3rd best defense right now. I don't watch the Cavs enough to warrant a judgement on Drummond but has he helped transformed the team into a defensive powerhouse? dude plays 32 minutes and has a defensive rating of 96, which is the lowest of his career, which is really good.

Norman+McCaw+Baynes+Len+Bembry for Drummond and his expiring contract
LOL, I'm sure Detroit would love our garbage.

Re: We should go after Drummond if we can get him reasonably
no point to Drummond.
We need to be tanking right now and I'm worried Drummond may steal us a game or two here or there.
Then we'll have to pay Cleveland for the privilege. No thanks.

You must have missed the episode when he was traded to Cleveland.
And Norm and them are "garbage" now?!. Okay buddy!

We could reasonably be good again as early as next yr with a good prospect, even more reason to fully commit to the tank to get one.

Drummond?
I'd love for the Raptors to take a flyer on him -- for the appropriate price. I think picking him up on a vet's minimum (after he has accepted a buy-out from the Cavs) is a reasonable risk. Signing him to Baynes-like contract next summer is a reasonable risk.
Trading for him, and sending out $20M plus of contracts/players? LMAO. NFW. Haven't you watched the pistons over the last decade? I have.

Vinnie became the Microwave in May 1985, zapping the Celtics in Joe Louis

Do you think this team can compete with the Nets? Bucks? Celtics? Heat? Lakers? Clippers?
Lets be realistic.

the heat were flash in the pan, a hot shooting bubble last year doesnt make them a contender.
celtics, until ainge becomes serious they will be very good never great.
the rest of teams have a short 2-3 year window.
and who says we have to be championship contender next year. we have 3 years after this with the core locked up.

I'm not even a fan of his, but we could do a lot worse than a 27 year old centre averaging 18/15 who has been a 2x All-Star.

Re: We should go after Drummond if we can get him reasonably
I think it is possible Cleveland could be a 3rd team in a Lowry trade and we'd get the draft equity from the other team but send the players coming back on to the Cavs for Drummond. Not a fan of him and Pascal playing together though.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

Toooooo Late to party for MU and BW! J Allen and T Prince would have been perfect and we could have worked assets to be = or better than Cleveland.

Drummond is Whiteside with a better publicist. Year after year some of y'all never learn. I'd rather play Stanley at center.

I'm surprised how unliked he is here. For years everyone said it was BC's biggest mistake not drafting Drummond.
