I have a habit of going back to the expansion year and reviewing all of the draft mistakes that led us to where we are. It has been a lot of bad luck, but the worst decisions have really been the trades we didn’t make but should’ve. If we simply made the deal with Portland in 05, we would’ve had CP3 instead of Felton and May. No doubt this franchise would be in better position today if that had happened. You wouldn’t find another person on this board lobbying harder for it at the time either than me, but Bernie wouldn’t do it. Valued quantity over quality. Everyone could see CP3 was a transcendent talent.

Had another chance to right some wrongs with the alleged Frank trade. We could’ve made the deal with Boston and ended up with Frank a few picks later or someone better. We will never know what the actual offer was, but it was likely at least two picks that have ended up being lottery picks so far. And we still likely could’ve had Frank because who else was picking him in between our pick and Boston’s?

there's still a chance to break the curse. 6-6 with the deciding game on the 14th vs raptors.

Somebody needs to get this to the team's attention, time for this to change.

I didn’t even remember this until I saw this thread come back up. When is the last time we were above .500 at the end of January?

-The twin towers were still standing (and George W Bush wasn't even inaugurated yet)
-Shaggy's 'It Wasn't Me' was #1 on the charts
-The Apple iPod did not exist
-Youtube would not exist for four more years
-LaMelo Ball's mother had probably just learned she was pregnant with her 3rd son

...so it's been awhile

(January 2001)

Edit: Whoops, just realized you were asking about the end of January, not just this point in January.

And you went through all of that work to pile it on. Holy hell it’s been a long time since this team was good all year. The only time we won 50 games I believe was one or two seasons of the Dave Cowens coached Rice/Mason/Divac years

19 - 19 with 5 games remaining

pistons
bucks
bucks
sixers
magic

gotta go 3 - 2 to break the curse. that means we must beat either bucks or sixers (14 defeats in a row, another separate curse). i think the curse is safe for another year. we blew it vs wizards. we made it much closer than i expected this season. i thought we had no chance given the ridiculous early schedule.

I think we'll do it.

The two bucks games, we can win one of them. The Pistons just beat the Bucks, and we beat the Pistons. Therefor Hornets > Bucks.
The 6ers will be tough because Embiid will take our lunch money. But we played them close a little while ago and are healthy-ish now.
We should beat Orlando.

So, what's gonna happen is we'll beat the Bucks once. We'll beat Philly. And then we're gonna give 130 points to Orlando and lose by one.

One curse at a time. We can't get greedy and anger the basketball gods. They have finally forgiven us for the sins of George Shinn and Ray Wooldridge.
