This team will look great if we can get two HOFers and three high level starters.

I bet Toronto takes Randle for Sialim and runs laughing. Randle is a much better player.spree2kawhi wrote:KnicksGod wrote:Maybe Randle HAS to be kept but I am wondering about his value at this point. Jrue Holiday got a boatload of picks. Randle would seem to demand the same no? Holiday a better track record and longer but not that many bigs who can put up points the way Randle is. And they come with rebounds and assists.
Holiday is a complete basketball player, always under control. Plays both ends, smart, top level talent.
Randle 4 TO, 0.2 bpg, suspect range still ...
If you can get a top 20 frp in 2021 for him you do it imo.
I'm also trading him for Siakam without any hesitation, but thinking this through, you realize Randle's actual value: Toronto would never do that and Siakam isn't even a return that blows you away these days.

You would add Lavine t9 Randle not exchange them.thebuzzardman wrote:So, what's a realistic trade for Zach LaVine that doesn't treadmill the team by trading away too much?
I don't think there is one.
Randle and the Mav's 2021?
I don't think the Bulls have any use for Randle. How soon could he traded FROM the Bulls?
- Where the Bulls double down on a return, getting the pick from the Knicks and then flip Randle again for something. Just speculation
Obviously, this really doesn't make the Knicks better, hurts frontcourt depth, removes their best (for what it's worth) player, but it does add a quality 2/3 with some secondary/tertiary PG skills.
And since the Knicks struggle to find any one guard/wing on any night that can score consistently, at least LaVine would provide that, while RJ and Quickley have their inconsistent scoring nights, consistent with young 2nd and 1st year players who are decent.
Don't think there is a path to LaVine unless the Bulls wanted to clear cap space, which not sure they do.

Of course, Payton will start the next game and play the majority of minutes. With his running partner Bullocks.

True. Payton should be getting 44 mpg. He's the best.

Years later, Frank and Knox still have to be scared to mess up a rotation and be benched. I hope it's not the same with Obip, but as long as Randle is here it isn't looking good .......
We should trade Randle, then:
Quickley + Frank
RJ
Knox + Frank
Obi
Mitch
This lineup doesn’t win any games. Not sure how you can move forward if these boys go 0-60 the rest of the way.
Frank isn’t healthy - and I’m the most disappointed by his injuries - and tbh, this lineup only includes one starter caliber player (RJ).
IQ will be a good spark off the bench but he doesn’t really look for teammates. Knox can only catch and shoot.
Obi/Mitch is a terrible front court. Defensively gets pushed around, offensively hurts the rim.
Facts. I get people want to see all the youngsters play all 48 but if we were to seriously go out there with this lineup for the rest of the season they very well could lose every single game... which is not great for their development or mental

IQ only scores well against the Cavs. When he does this against a real NBA team let me know...

So much truth here.
Thibs is playing RJ 38 mpg, yes. But is he doing RJ any favors by pairing him with Elfrid, Bullock & Randle? Are these heavy minutes in unproductive rotations going to hurt his longterm durability? It's like a broken record and makes no difference whether its Thibs/Leon or Fizdale/Mills -- the Knicks prioritize ugly mediocre wins over maximizing production from draftees.
Q: Why not play RJ 30-35 mpg but have him always on the floor with spacers and at least 12 mpg w/out Randle?
A: Because Elf + Randle can use their veteran experience and selfish chemistry to thug out an extra 5-10 ugly reg season wins. Because Dolan demands "respect" and can't abide having a rebuilding team. And, frankly, because Playoffs (even a 10 seed in a pandemic) would be a short term financial boon for MSG, inc.

Re: knicks cavs PG - start up the tank
Thibs is doing all of the things many of us feared. Evey time his name was brought up...many times. We all discussed his penchant for the following:
Plays vets over kids. Check ✔️
Runs players into the ground. Check ✔️
Short rotations with no wiggle room. Check ✔️
Doesn't incorporate enough 3s into the offense. Check ✔️
I know we have injuries making an impact but...he is still forcing crap vets down our throats for NO REASON. This is not a contender and Payton/Bullock do NOT give us the best chance to win. So...what is the direction here. Showcasing trash vets on one year deals again? Rivers...has been Rivers. Dime a dozen player. Not really complaining about him but...had to mention how much I hated this off season.
Meh... whatever. Waiting for the 20 game mark and everyone healthy...if that's possible. They are still evaluating things...

FO is probably only invested with Randle, Barrett, Quickley, Mitch, Toppin, and Knox. The rest won’t be here next year. Toppin is the least performing but he’ll get more rope since he’s Rose’ 1st pick.

Knox played way too many minutes than he deserved his rookie year. It was his 2nd year where he got sporadic minutes and he regressed. We never developed him right though.
Frank played minutes but they were inconsistent and he got hurt so often that he always had a set back after showing flashes. He would then revert back to being passive which is frustrating. But the coaches should've given him a bigger role right away instead of signing all these one year vets.
It's not only just minutes given. I just think the Knicks have never provided enough guidance for our lottery picks. It's not enough to just give them minutes but seems our team never gives them a set role and invest in them. Fizdale was horrible because he was more about a free flowing offense which is good if you have the right personnel, bad if you don't have the right PG or you have young players still learning. But the main thing is... management keeps signing these rental players instead of riding with our lotto picks. Why draft them if you're gonna hinder their development.
