Make them doubles because you just know it wont be either of those two and will instead be someone like Mason Plumlee who gets $10mil a year for the next three years.

I liked mason in Portland, he was a great passer

You know what is crazy?

The Mavericks traded Dennis Smith Jr, Deandre Jordan, Wes Matthews, Unprotected 2021 pick, and Protected 2023 first (top 10) to the Knicks for Kristaps, Tim Hardaway and Courtney Lee.

Like what???

Smith actually had some value at the time of this trade. Going to the Knicks killed whatever chance he had of getting a decent 2nd contract. He's going to have to go the right place and grind his ass off to stay in the league now.

Saw an article where the wolves may stealth trade Karl Anthony Towns.

Would you do PJ, Zeller, Rozier, 2 firsts and a pick swap for KAT?

In a second. KAT + Melo would be a ton of fun to watch. Need defenders to fill out the roster but that team is good + young.

Yes without hesitation.

Graham/Melo/Hayward/Bridges/KAT + Monk/Martin/Martin/McDaniels/Biz is a playoff team though the bench is kinda rough. MIN would have to send back a couple players to balance rosters, and hopefully one of them would be a better wing than one of the Martins.

I think KAT would be a really good player for us, but I am not sure Minnesota is ready to give up on that core. They just got Russell and KAT together after they wanted to play together so I think both will remain happy there for at least another year.

Throw in the fact that they traded their first rounder in this upcoming draft in the DeAngelo Russell/Wiggins exchange. Somehow the Warriors got them to only protect the pick 1-3..... So more than likely they are going to try to win this season.

Drummond has 20 and 14 in the first half tonight. The only thing bad about him is his contract. If we can get him for Zeller and filler we absolutely should.

Was about to post the same thing. Leading the league with 15 rpg...what a difference he would make. And I'm not a big fan of him.

Its extremely easy to talk yourself into thinking Drummond is the answer because of how good of a player he should be given all his gifts. Ive been very vocally anti-Drummond and even I almost talked myself into it recently. Its just very unlikely to actually work out the way we'd want it.

I can go either way on Drummond. I think we should allow our guards to rebound so they can push the floor. Drummond seems like a selfish player like Dwight when he was here.

He will finish Melo’s passes and outlet to our guards to start our break. Again, it depends on what you’re paying him for it to be worth it. If you can play him 18 mil on an extension vs his current salary it’s an easy move.

The problem with trading for Drummond is that we don't have the matching contracts to get it done. We'd have to trade too many players to make it worth it (we aren't trading Rozier or Hayward).

The only way he will play for us this season is if he gets bought out.

The problem with trading for Drummond just from a financials/numbers side is we do not have any salaries that really match up to his $28.7 million contract.

We have roughly 4 million in cap space meaning we could send out $24.7 in contracts and create a small Trade Exception for the Cavs, who are over the cap currently by $21 Million and currently under the tax line by about $2 Million. Meaning they won't be willing to go into the tax to deal away an expiring in Drummond.

So how do we get to a minimum of 24.7 Million salary heading out?

Hayward is 28.5 mil and not going anywhere
Rozier is 18.9 and I would not deal him for Drummond.
Zeller is most logical at 15.4, but why do Cavs want another center? both expiring so no value.
Lamelo off limits
Monk makes 5.3 Million and would make sense, but even with him and Zeller that is about 4 Million short.
PJ makes 4 Million, but I am not putting him in this deal.
Bridges makes about 4 Million and I am not putting him in this deal.
Biz makes 3.5 Million and could make sense to send, but do Cavs want two expiring Centers and Monk? Seems like we need to add picks
Graham, Martin twins, Mcdaniels, Carey and Richards all make 1.6 or fewer so they aren't super helpful in matching.

So to recap we would have to offer probably (Zeller, Monk and Bridges) or (Rozier and Monk)for Drummond just to make the salaries work let alone actually find players we are willing to trade and are fair value... Just do not see this as a trade that can be done without including Knicks or Thunder to help facilitate and they will want value themselves for helping get the trade done.

All this for a player I do not really even desire very much. To me it is just a rabbit hole that isn't worth exploring further.

Drummond isn't worth trading assets for anyway, not when he's an expiring and we can just sign him in the offseason.

If we want rebounding help this season we'll have to look elsewhere.

Less relevant but for me interesting question - if we traded for someone like Drummond, would we drop the zone defense scheme when he's on the floor? I'm not sure if we're playing zone just because of our roster, or if it's a scheme we want to stick with and we'll try to target guys that compliment the scheme.
