low usage, high impact players are at a **** premium in today's NBA for team building. you can have your ball monopolizers, I'll take a Hali over Melo any of the week and twice on Sunday if we're playing football too

Theres a min of shots you need to take to become a star. As much as I share similar view, evan brings up a good point you need some usage to make opponents respect you. A guard version of Draymond is certainly less valuable and even worse than 2015 iguodala who could guard Lebron. Guys like Doncic/Young are going too extreme and imo 20ppg/10apg is the optimal level.
He is indeed gold but probably 3rd/4th most valuable on a championship team. Not franchise guy.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

I remember saying early on he was looking like a top 5 pick when he was just efficiently flirting with triple doubles. Then I let that funny jump shot mess with me into thinking he would be a good player with a low ceiling, bummer

19 PER, 67 TS%, absurd 7 assists to only 1.5 TOVs per 36, currently shooting 52/52/82

he was always one of the most nba ready guards available...not the highest ceiling by any means though hence the slight stock hit imo

Yes, I think that his J calmed down everyone's enthusiasm about Haliburton, including several NBA front offices.

Hali has an argument as #1 overall in a redraft at this point, that good

I guess it’d go something like:
1. Edwards/Haliburton
2. Hali/Edwards
3. Ball
4. Maxey
5. Bane
6. Vassell

No one else is even close to those 6.

Not sure if Vassell is really that far ahead of Jaden McDaniels. Just very different roles they are used in but Jaden is doing things that help his team win even if the production is not close to Vassell's.

Josh Green needs to sustain his play but if he continues like he started the year then he'll also be knocking on that door as an elite role player that just impacts winning. Still too soon to bump him up that much, though.

edit: There's also a solid chance that Bane goes even higher than #5.

But I agree that Haliburton would be in the conversation for #1 easily, and that Edwards is his primary competition. I think Haliburton has passed Ball, if only because you can trust him more to buy in, play winning basketball and not be a distraction off the court.

Yeah McDaniels is a fair shout. I personally don’t rate him as highly as others do, but you’re right that he’d probably go at 7.

Which goes to show that great role player is actually a solid outcome for a mid-lottery pick with the benefit of hindsight. After you have exhausted all the options that could realistically (co-)lead a franchise, it is crucial to think about what the player you draft could do for you in an offensively limited role. All the great teams have drafted or traded for multiple players that just know how to impact the game without a primary (offensive) role.
