I think for pick #29 he is right where I expected. With a few games behind he can quickly improve, the potential is there.
On D, he is OK one-on-one, but off-ball he should guard his man a bit closer. He is maybe a foot too far from his man, kinda cheating to position himself for doubling the ball handler. A foot closer he would have a step on the attacker. I attribute it to playing against faster, more versed NBA player vs NCAA opposition. He should be able to adjust, this can be corrected by the staff.
On O, he looks to play safe, no risks, good passing. On the flipside, a little indecisive at times. Deferring a bit to Kyle or FVV or Pascal, he should try to create a bit more. Looks like confidence issue to me.
I think he looks like trying to adjust, he'll probably be fine.

He made a couple of small plays last night that were very encouraging, using change-of-pace to create scoring opportunities (once on a drive to the rim, another on a bounce pass to the opposite corner). First time since the pre-season he looked somewhat comfortable. I agree confidence is an issue; he is still adjusting to the size and speed in the NBA. Should be fine.

I remember when the coaching staff suggested Flynn will start with the 905, people were shocked since he was supposed to be nba ready, but now we are seeing why. Flynn has the tools, but he needs to learn the nba game. Even older rookies like Wright, Poetl, Norm, Siakam etc all had to go through the 905.

Re: Malachi Flynn
I think he has pretty solid BBIQ, he’s committed on defense but makes some typical rookie mistakes there, especially off the ball. On offense he usually doesn’t force his shots and he’s decent at creating some space for himself when driving, his finishing obviously isn’t the best right now though.
Kind of wish they’d run more screen action with him handling the ball, that was his bread and butter in college. I think he struggles in the spread out 5, kick and drive half court offense that the Raps run pretty often.
I agree that he could use some 905 time

I wanted Xavier Tillman more and thought he would be a perfect fit here and he just got 15 points 4 rebounds and 4 steals against Philly and has double digit scoring over his last two.
Desmond Bane is 48% from the field and three.
Undrafted Mason Jones just dropped 24 and 4 in his first start.
Jordan Nwora is 50% from three.
I mean those are all players who we knew what they could do well in college, had translatable size and skill and are already performing. Even Maledon in a small role is better than Flynn in every aspect and he is younger and much bigger.
It was a bad draft but it feels like Toronto got a guy that is less NBA ready than we thought and it is annoying because everyone knew he had low upside because of his size and athleticism. Hopefully he figures it out soon because I am beginning to side with Nick about limiting his minutes. He is not productive.
Tillman is good and looks like Taj Gibson. Flynn may have a higher ceiling.
Bane is going to be a SG on the NBA level and Raptors have too many of them.
Nwora is like the forward version of Powell. He's out there to score score score.
I'm glad all of prospects that I liked including Pritchard are doing well. Even Reggie Perry is getting minutes in BK after the gutting trade.
With Tillman, the Raptors might be 8-4 instead of 4-8.![]()
Though, I still like Flynn and guarding strarter level guards at the NBA level is probably the hardest thing to do.
Flyyn missed a 12 foot shot, which I felt he should've went with a floater or a bank shot from that angle. Positive is he got 3 assists and only 1 turnover. On the season he has 10 assists and 2 turnovers. The shooting will come. He's played 4 games of meaningful minutes. Be patient. Flynn looks patient out there not rushing things, either.![]()
Imagine if the Raptors drafted Killian Hayes with 7th overall pick?!?!?!? Getting hurt takes the heat off him. He's shooting 27% and 25% from 3.6 assis and 2.4 turnovers. Detroit should've taken Haliburton. They needed the 3-pt shooting.
Talking about those being picked earlier, I was surprised with Pritchard and Quickley. Even Jaden McDaniels showed pretty good 3 point shooting that translate to the NBA with higher upside, which is just a pick above us.

Really like his tenacity and quickness. When handling the ball he's looking to explode and is making quick plays and passes. This will turn into significant offence once he learns to read defences at the same intensity and quick pace with which he likes to move.
