I'd do edwarfs for Porter straight up
Brown's #1 fan on this forum.

I'm now in the "trade everyone including Kemba, Stevens, and Smart" camp (if such a camp exists). Just curious to see what will happen and how much better we'll be.

the point is, if you're going to have a 12-15th man who doesn't play, why not have that be someone with potential? Someone with elite traits who might develop into a great player with some good coaching and work ethic. Guys that have elite size, length, and athleticism.
The 2014, 2016 and 2019, and 2020 drafts are perfect examples of Danny's failure in this regard
In 2014 he took James Young over Jerami Grant and Jokic who both went in the 2nd.
In 2016 he took Yabusele and Zizic over Dejounte Murray, Siakam and Brogdon
In 2016 he took Williams over Bazley and Edwards over Bol and Roby
In 2020 he traded the 30th pick rather than draft Bane, Maledon, Woodard II, Stanley, Mane, Joe or Reed
It's just asinine really to waste these opportunities. And for what? So he can keep guys like Mickey, Hunter, Young, Edwards, and Semi? It's 100% because if he WAS to take any of them he'd be admitting his draft mistakes. It's hubris. I know this word triggers his fans which always makes me chuckle, but it's true.
Danny apologists hand wave away roster spots 12-15 and are okay with guys in those spots that don't have size/athleticsm for their positions instead of guys that do who have higher upside. It makes no sense and is kind of a transparent defense of their boy Danny. Always take the longer better athlete when you're in the late 1st and in the 2nd round. If Danny did that not only would our starting lineup be better because many of the guys he should have taken developed into great starters, but the bench would be incredible and we'd have so much ammunition in trades.

Reminder that the whole league passed on Jokic in 2014. Including Denver, twice.

Everybody likes Harrison Barnes and thinks he'd be a great fit, but the same reasons that we like him make me wonder why Sac would have any interest in dumping him. My guess is they have no interest at all of getting rid of him.

Yeah but it its asinine to waste the opportunity to draft a fat serbian kid. Why doesn't Ainge just draft the very best player on the board every single time? I don't get it.

I agree with this.
In a vacuum, I kinda like KPJ. When we played that otherwise rudderless Cleveland team last year, I thought he showed potential role player traits. He was very aggressive offensively - looking at BRef he had a .240 FTr on the season - and was getting over screens. He was playing with a gusto that the rest of the team didn't.
But I don't think a team where vets are the exception rather than the norm, should be bringing in troubled dudes and rehabbing them. Its one thing if he was a real high-ceiling talent, but you don't need to risk the trouble for a 4th/5th guard.

I'm tripping out that folks want to trade for a player who is so terrible and unprofessional his team is about to waive him and eat his contract just so they never have to see him again.

Assessing drafts like this is always a bad take. It's like saying Ted Williams sucks for only hitting .400.
Ainge has hit on all of his high picks, and been among the very best in the league drafting outside of the lottery. In addition, he has successfully leveraged draft capital into trades for players like KG, Ray, and IT.

Re: Hard to Believe Ainge will Make any Move Soon Trade Thread
Important to remember we have 3 trade exceptions not one big one.
$2,505,793 Vincent Poirier trade with OKC 11/19/2021
$4,767,000 Enes Kanter trade with POR 11/20/2021
$28,500,000 Gordon Hayward trade with CHA 11/29/2021
Interesting players making $2,505,793 or less:
Biyombo
E’Twan Moore
Reggie Jackson
Demarcus Cousins
Whiteside
Bazemore
Kornet
Mclemore
GRIII
Kevin Porter Jr
Harry Giles
Interesting players making $4,767,000 or less:
Kris Dunn
Valentine
Reggie Bullock
Finney-Smith
John Collins
Jarret Allen
Danuel House
Of course too many interesting players that make 28.5 mil or less (T-Ross, Fournier, Gordon, Tucker, Barnes, etc.). I'd like to trade Carsen Edwards to someone looking to shed a salary and then absorb that salary into an exception. Would the Rockets prefer Edwards contract and age to Danuel House in an even swap? Edwards for a heavily protected 2nd that wouldn't convey and then House into the trade exception from Kanter. Or Knicks with Bullock? I am over Carsen Edwards... too many little guards on this team for him to ever have a role, Kemba, Pritchard, Tremont, etc. If we could turn him into a wing like House or GRIII, I'd be all for it.
I still like Harry Giles too... GRIII would be great off the bench too until Nesmith or Langford can earn his minutes.
Kind of a brain dump here, but my point overall was supposed to be that there are a lot of moves to be made on the margins, potentially using one or both of our smaller TPEs.
On the larger scale, Bjelica (7.125) and Barnes (22,215,909) are too much to fit into the exception (not to mention the hard cap), but if you traded Bjelica for Semi and Theis and then give a first to get Barnes into the TPE, I think that'd work.
Kemba / Brown / Tatum / Barnes / Thompson
Pritchard / Smart / Nesmith-Langford / Bjelica / RWIII / Grant Williams
We really lack a good 4 man, Barnes solves a lot of problems for us and is def worth a first, Theis, and Ojeleye.

The Magic want to keep him as they're trying to compete for a playoff spot. There'd have to be at least a first attached from our end to even get a conversation rollingGoCeltics123 wrote:Terrence Ross on the TPE anyone?

I’ve been playing with a lot of Barnes & Bjelly scenarios as well.

Yeah, but I assume Constables idea was to add a possibly elite talent to the team.

Given the same opportunity I think Naw performs as well.

Because the Kings are 5-9, second to last in their conference. He's signed for 3 years at about $20M/per year which isn't a small chunk of change. Bad teams moving their higher priced players for assets is usually the starting point for a lot of trade talks. It just makes logical sense.

I would give up Theis, a 1st and semi in a heartbeat for Barnes. Shoot, I'd give 2 firsts. Just get it done. Danny can't draft PFs worth a damn

If they're terrible towards the trade deadline it might become doable. Aside from that though, when did we ever need reasons to discuss things in the trade thread?
