Honestly, I think we have the formula for how to beat the Bucks. Force Giannis to take threes and long twos and protect the defensive glass. They can't stop us on offense.

I’ll make sure to get things organized, so this is coordinated and easy to participate in.

I’m going to pin one thread that will give a general description of the voting process and tallies up crown winners over the course of the season.

At this time, I’m thinking it may be easiest to close game threads after wins and open a separate post-game thread with a poll, so it’s easier to track our votes but I’m not sure. I’ll think about it and get your feedback.

In the meantime, I have some questions:

1) Someone (MDB?) mentioned something about having a “Knight” award in addition to the Crown. What function does the knight have? Is this a 2nd place vote?

2) At the moment, we’re only giving out crowns for wins. Should we leave it at this or do we want to give out “Jester” awards for bad/underwhelming performances when we lose too?

Any feedback and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

I would give my crown to Harden if we are giving a knight award it would have to be Brown for me. Whenever things started to get a bit sloppy he would do something small that seemed to get us back on track.

what a game last night!!! I don't want to take anything for granted bc a lot can happen between now and then... but was that a preview of the ECF??

Can't wait for Kyrie to get back and get reacclimated with these guys (should take about 2 minutes of a quarter  )

And I'm loving what I'm seeing out of these role guys like Green and Brown. I think they'll all have their ups and downs, but they just need to keep fighting, shooting, and defending each game. Some games guys like Green will be hot, and I guarantee we'll have some games where guys like Shamet are gonna go 6/6 from 3 point.

I'm still interested to see if Marks makes a move for a big, but I don't think it's 100% a need right now. Keep starting DJ, and let's see was a rotation of Perry, Green, and Claxton look like at the 5. I'm SURE there will be someone great at the buyout time when it comes if we need it. We've got time (can't believe I'm saying that) for these guys to get an audition.

Harris was a stud last night too. I'm sure he's earned the respect of KD and Harden by now. They know they can pass it to him and count on him if needed. I think that's huge.

Tough for both with inconsistent minutes. it helps shooters specifically to have that. pick one and player them more, instead of both less

I liked what I saw from Brown, poor showing from TLC and Shamet, DJ played well we need more of that type of energy from him. KD and Harden led us with their scoring and James is just an awesome playmaker. Lol at Middleton being their go too guy, such a shame.

Some tough bounces late made it closer then it was. reveresed foul call took a possesion away as a jump ball. the airball that KD let go that was saved and became a three. Giannis stepping out of bounds no call followed by a basket. No-call on harden runner should have been an and-1.

even then, we still closed it out both offensively and defensively the last possesions

Since Shamets 0-9 shamet is shooting 39% from deep (14-36) despite in and out of the lineup and up and down inconsistent minutes. he has continued to provide plus defense the entire time. 50% from deep the last 5 games.

I have some bias cause had he played a little better, we possibly would have been able to move him to keep Allen.

Not being able to trade shamet for a 1st had less to do with shamet and more with teams not wanting to help us get harden

You sure. I think if shamet was playing quality ball, somebody would have threw a first for him and we keep Allen. It’s all in the past now because it’s something I do think about everytime I see shamet

When you break it down....

No lotto team is going to do it, because they arent in a win-now situation and 4 years control on rookie scale and the ability to draft the next shamet trumps having shamet. thats like 12-18 teams right there who may believe they will have a lotto pick.

then there are 3 or so teams with no pick, or who cant trade a first due to the steipen rule.

then you have 5-6 teams in the east who arent going to help the nets get harden without drastically overpaying (i.e. allen) to get that first. Same with the top 2-3 teams in the west.

If it wasnt related to harden it 100% happens. contenders are always looking for shooting. but they hurt their title chances more facilitating harden then they do help by adding a role shooter.

It took trading with a treadmill-ish team and giving up allen just to get that first.

your 7-10 teams in both conferences we really your only shot. thats 6 teams and some werent in position to trade a 1st.

The fact that the best pick we could get for allen was the bucks pick (via cleveland) is very telling on how teams were reluctant to help us given the bucks pick is a lock bottom 5 pick

We weren't going to extend Allen anyway I thought? It would've been nice to hold him this year for the run, but it made Marks' job next offseason a little easier.

Cleveland will (hopefully) pay him big bucks and move on from Drummond/Love if they can. (not sure if they'll be able to do the latter though)

He's up to 36% since New Years day from downtown. Last night he had a dumb TO but hit 1 out of 2 3PA and hit both of his free throws. I don't understand why he was getting blasted.

TLC had a terrible game but I'm not going to kill him for it either. Khris Middleton isn't exactly some sort of scrub.

After the gelling period concludes, this team needs to finish high to ensure a favorable path to the finals.

There's a chance to run into MIL, PHI n BOS per thr seedings... hell ATL too...

Every game matters

Oh I can't wait to play Atlanta again. The Beard will punish them accordingly.

Upcoming schedule:

@ CLE
@ CLE
Vs MIA
Vs MIA
@ ATL
@ OKC

No clue when Miami will be at fully strength yet, so this is a scheduled run we need to take advantage of.

Didn't get to post last night, but I did watch the whole game, and I was pleased with what I saw. A few things:

1) Bucks actually played a very good game, with strong performances out of their 3 best players, and defensively, they had a plan against KD. They also had a lot of broken plays go in their favor (which they scored off), which was unusual. Despite all this, they still lost, and this gives me confidence against them in the future (despite the narrow win).

2) DJ looked very motivated and played really good defense for most of the game. The guy gets bashed constantly by Nets fans, so I'd like to see him get the credit too when its due. If he can play like this for us in key games, it's a huge thing. Offensively, he had his best game in ages, despite the failed lob attempts. I expect Harden & DJ chemistry to only get better.

3) Joe Harris continues to thrive off the attention on the stars, and this will only get better once Kyrie is back in the fold. Jeff Green was also awesome last night, and has been really good this season in general. Bruce Brown continues to be a really strong rotation player as well. Our best perimeter defender by far, and he's an awesome finisher inside. The contest on Middleton's shot at the end was huge.

4) While we're all rightfully excited to see Kyrie alongside these two guys, I do have concerns in getting smaller on the defensive end. We either have to move KD to 4 like before (Jeff Green goes to bench), or we move Joe Harris to bench, which I'm not a fan of as Joe will absolutely thrive next to those 3 guys. Either way, we have to sacrifice a bit, and hopefully it doesn't hurt us much defensively, because it'll put a lot of pressure on DJ to be perform at a high level consistently (or whoever the center ends up being).

Back in 2014, the Pierce/KG Big 4 with Deron/Joe/Pierce/KG/Lopez made their official debut at Cleveland. We wore our white jerseys. The Cavs were rebuilding.

Tomorrow night, Kyrie/Harden/KD Big 3 will make their official debut at Cleveland wearing white. The Cavs are rebuilding.

So, anyone else finds this creepy? lol
