I'll admit, I wanted Kira or Haliburton. I liked Kira's upside as a scorer better, but recognized Haliburton had the higher floor/was a safer prospect

Kira is kinda in a similar position to what Obi is in here. he hasn't had much opportunity because Bledsoe and Ball are on the team and like Thibs, SVG loves hit vets. situation/team that you're drafted to matters. can't really judge 1 month into their careers

Wanted Kira or Tyrell...keeping it in my sig for accountability. Taking a massive loss on Tyrell though. As for Kira, let’s see. A rookie sitting behind Bledsoe ain’t anything to be ashamed of.

The guy I’m most surprised about is Maxey. The three guys it seemed the Knicks were most connected to at 8 IMO were Cole, Toppin and Maxey.

Really? I seem to recall more Vassell, Kira, Haliburton, Okoro, Hayes talk.

True

If he can be had for a good price though I'd give him a shot over Payton.

Similar numbers, though he's 3.3 years "youthier" than Payton; maybe he's an offseason away from leveling up.

Right, neither can shoot, but Payton only has eyes for Randle (and sometimes Bullocks) while Melo might , or should be able to get guys like Mitch and RJ the ball and in better spots.

I'm a Tyrell Terry believer still. Playing, as a rookie trying to find your feet in the league, for a coach that is running a tight vet-centred rotation (even with covid/injuries) and trying to play-off is very different from, eg, the situation Maledon and Poku find themselves in at OKC. Just need patience. I don't see him as Trae-too-small-to-ever-D.

You would think someone who has been around awhile would know better than to draw conclusions after a dozen games or so but I guess age doesn't always translate to wisdom.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Knowledge is just information stuffed into a mental bag
Wisdom is knowing what to pull out of the bag to do the job

Not sure I want Lavine defending SF’s. I would just get Lavine over Oladipo imo. Don’t think that’s a championship contender yet but it’s definitely playoff caliber at least. If we can get into the playoffs, stars will see that and will want to join us (whether that’s through trade or free agency). I am hoping we can somehow get Lavine. Ian Begley in July said that the Knicks are going to be closely monitoring his situation in Chicago so he’s definitely on our radar.

Ehh in the era of “small ball” Lavine Can play small forward but I get what your saying.

I’d def be game for a Lavine trade.. realistically tho I see no way they don’t want one of RJ or Mitch back for him tho

I mean I wouldn’t trust Lavine guarding guys like Tatum, KD, Lebron, etc. We’d need someone else. Hopefully RJ can be that guy.

It’s LaVine over Oladipo for me. Younger and a better scorer at this point in their careers. Oladipo had some super duds just this season so far (like when he played us & got bodied by RJ).

Maybe they’d be interested in Obi. I’d give up Obi.
