Its really early in the season though. Still alot of smoke and mirrors in the standings.

For example we've played the 2nd hardest schedule so far. Are we as bad as our record indicates? We've played some really good teams tough.

Cavs OTOH are 27th in SOS.

We also have the 3rd hardest remaining schedule

Yeah thats true. When I made that post I was under the impression their was no way we blow that Hawks game. Still we found a way luckily haha.

I still think Rockets are worse then us but we should be right in the thick of it!

Agreed, although it would seem logic dictates that second half of our season will be relatively easy considering we had the hardest schedule.

Hopefully we are so far out of the playoffs at that point that Casey is told to play the young players, otherwise I have no faith in him making that decision himself.

For what it's worth, FiveThirtyEight has us projected at 6 wins less than the next worst team. That's a helluva tank we're driving.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

They were pretty good on their projections last season. Also those projections arent going to include the likelihood Blae and Rose get hurt.

Rounded up, we're on track to win 16 games. So far, so good!

It’s a sad state if true at this point. If we plan on only winning six games, I’d like to see Stewart run on there and develop. I don’t need to see production from Plumlee at this point.

Unfortunately, stewart is playing about as many minutes as he can without fouling out. Love his energy, but he picked up 4 in 16 minutes last night.

The only east team that is about as bad as us is Washington. Hopefully they ride westbrook and beal to a few more wins, but it's looking ugly with Bryant out. The raptors look to be turning it around. All the other teams seem like they are trying to win.

In the West, Minn is bad. They have been trying to win for a couple years now, but that mix doesn't work. The rockets? They could go either way. It's going to take them a minute to learn to play without Harden, but you have to think team culture is going to improve vs what it's been this year. Sacramento looks about how I expected, which is bad, but probably still better than us. The Pelicans are still in the mix too if Zion.

Houston (top 4 protected) and Minny (top 3 protected) have big incentive not to win.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I never thought I'd be happy the Pistons were the worst team in the NBA, but here we are.

True but I want to see the Pistons be bad and play the kids so they develop. Giving major minutes to guys like Wright, Plumlee and Blake is just silly.

Chicago, NY, and Cleveland have all won 3 games in a row.

Right now its Detroit, Washington, and Minnesota at the bottom with Charlotte and Sacramento as possible contenders for bottom 3.

Minnesota/Wash/Charlotte have way more talent then us. We may of finally done it. We built a tank roster. Would of been nice if we did it on purpose years ago rather then having SVG run us down to crap but we got here !

Between Wood/Oladipo/Wall/Tucker/Gordon/Cousins they will win a decent amount games on talent alone. Even if most of those guys have big injury concerns. I also think they will start to galvanize after a couple more weeks, as they have the Harden distraction behind them and their new coaching staff will have had more time to install what they want and build chemistry.

I think Houston will be closer to 30 wins than 20, but that's just me.

The only team I see as competition for worst record is Minnesota, especially with KAT out with Covid

They need to land in the top 3 to keep their pick so the tank is on for them!

And it seems regardless of GM, coach or how many picks they have it's always Minnesota racing to the bottom

A thought I just had:

Given the state of our roster we might not do much the next 12 months or so!

Plumlee, Stewart, Okafor
Blake, Sekou
Grant, Bey, McGruder
Jackson, Sirv
Hayes, Wright

Are all signed through next season!

Add the top 5 pick in the Draft and we've got 13 dudes on the books.

Are we "aggressive" in the 2021 Draft?

Not a lot of open roster spots!

we picked a really good year to be bad, not like its even our choice as we play our vets everyday but damn to think our biggest competition have westbrook and Beal and the other one has D Lo and KAT

Side note: if there's an argument to be made for tanking not being a way to win, I'm surprised people still hold up Philadelphia as that model. Not only have they been relatively successful despite not winning anything yet, but look at the WOLVES.

How many high picks do you need to be any good? Yeesh.

I wonder how many cancelled games end up not getting played at season's end and whether that can affect draft position. Although I expect the games that would impact playoff/play-in standings will get made up, I'm not sure missed games between non-playoff teams will get played.
