Very simple - who wants the Pistons to be in the playoff play in game this year?

Absolutely not!
Rather get a top 5 pick in 2021!
It's nice to "compete" but being in the treadmill sucked for a decade!
Happy our GM is taking us in the right direction

I voted Casey, not Weaver.
I have no idea what Weaver actually wants, but Casey is the coach and coaches coach to win

Yeah my question is very simple - the people who are spinning it into what they personally want are morons.

The most heinous, vile creatures on Earth!
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Re: Pistons in play in game?????
I dont know what any of them really want seeing as nothing they do really hints towards one direction or another.
I think that Blake Griffin contract is really our saving grace to protect them from being able to splurge to a treadmill but making us suck instead hopefully getting a young franchise guy.

Re: Pistons in play in game?????
Casey wants top 10. He wants to win as many games as possible. He’s...not great at it. He is only as concerned with playing or developing guys as he’s forced to be.
Weaver is harder to read. Best I can guess is that he wants it both ways- develop youth while also winning games. Trouble is, you need better talent than we have to win games, and far better talent to win games WHILE developing guys. It’s the only way I can rationalize going all in on the draft while also investing long term in vets and using all our cap space, even going so far as to acquire guys to stretch.
It’s not impossible to have that model, the Heat won games and even reached the finals while developing guys like Herro and Nunn along with relative newcomers like Robinson, but that example proves my point- you need vastly more talent than we’ve got to make that sort of setup work.
He appears to believe action is always superior to inaction. Which has merit when you’re at the bottom, but so far the moves themselves aren’t working out apart from Grant.
TLDR: I put that both want winning, but it’s tricky.

I have no interest in making the playoffs. I want to hold off as long as possible from seeing the pain of the Wood trade. We paid Plumlee 5 mill less and sent Wood plus a first rounder in a sign and trade. Completely unforgivable move.

Coach wants to win, GM does not. I think this goes for every tanking team. It doesnt benefit Casey to lose games. That leads to him not being around when we have a locker room of lottery picks.

Casey clearly wants to win - clinging to vets playing poor ball instead of dolling out more PT to younger players says it all. I don't believe the "retooling" PR crap. Weaver wants to lose to get that high pick, but he's not going to come out and say that. Truth though will come out. Will Casey be on the hot seat? Just conjecture though.

Good read. I put that both are going for it as well. To me, it’s pretty obvious that Weaver wants to win. Simply follow the money. We’ve gone from having $35 million in cap space to having two stretched players and $106 million committed FOR NEXT SEASON! Not to mention what has happened to any and all picks. No rebuilding team in their right mind would operate this way. Move after move screams retooling, the good ones as well as the bad ones.
Now, one nice thing for Weaver’s career path is that he has outs, and others to blame. It will be easy for him to pivot after eventually firing Casey. It will be easy for him to pivot after next season, when a lot of the $106 million comes off the books. Heck, in three years too, when Grant and Plum expire. Many chances to change the narrative, and keep his reign alive.......

I'm completely baffled at the amount of vitriol from certain people that has gone against Weaver in such a short period of time. At this point this can't JUST be about basketball.Pharaoh wrote:Do you really hate our GM that much?ByeByeDre wrote:Snakebites wrote:Casey wants top 10. He wants to win as many games as possible. Think it's more due to the fact Weaver didn't make the moves they would have made in his position tbh
He didn't make the moves I made but
So far so good
