Lot of talk over the years how lucky we were to go from Favre to Rodgers, but we lucked out equally going from TT, and now to Gute. Thompson restored the franchise to relevancy after Sherman depleted the talent pool and squandered a chunk of Favre's prime.

RIP Ted.

RIP Ted Thompson. His legacy will be draft-and-develop as the Packer way, with the occasional dip into value free agency, including for stars like Woodson and Peppers. Rodgers is obviously the defining pick of his tenure, and his refusal to cowtow to all of Favre's demands and flakiness about retiring is probably the defining episode.

I'll remember him for his aw-shucks and very-tight-to-the-vest press conferences, saying things like "The good Lord doesn't make too many of them [big athletic guys so draft them high]" and "I wish we could keep all our guys" and "If I could wrap them in bubble wrap I would." :)

I will also remember him fondly because of his uncanny resemblance, both in looks and in the way they talk and move, lol, to David Byrne--contemporary David Byrne, not the younger version with the Talking Heads. Though I could definitely see TT in a crazy big suit saying, "You may ask yourself..." :)

Terrible news. TT made one of the bravest and most consequential decisions in the history of professional sports when he moved on from Favre to hand the reigns over to Rodgers. Idiots out there were practically calling for him to be burned in effigy after he made that call, and he had the stones to stick with it despite the enormous pressure placed on him by Favre, the media, and a huge percentage of the fanbase.

His call - and the other decisions he made - led to a Super Bowl and another decade of excellence. He faded towards the end - citing that autonomic disorder (and he lost some talent in his front office as well) - and it's fair to be critical of those last few years. But when he was at his peak, I'm not sure if there was a better GM in football.

RIP TT. Thanks for the memories.

RIP Ted. He brought us a championship and several competitive and enjoyable seasons. Man his health really went down hill quickly. Sad stuff.

I’m really sad about his passing. Had no idea it’d actually affect me like that. Really loved what he did for GB

Man, that sucks. How many starters do we still have that were drafted by Ted? Certainly all 4 of this season's 1st team All-Pros.

TT wisely and bravely would get out a year too early rather than a year too late. Favre, Rivera, Scott Wells, Ahman Green, probably tons of others I can't think of off the top of my head. Spent many hours debating with friends on the workings of TT. Will be missed

Rodgers
Jones
Davante
Bahk
Linsley
Clark

6 of our 8 best players are still TT draft picks. 7 out of 9 if you include Crosby.

Never heard a reporter get emotional before. Wilde loses it.

Thompson did an incredible job all things considered. It was sad to see him deteriorate near the end. One of the things I really liked about him was his very understated sense of humor.

That article that Wilde shared from back in 2007 about Thompson was really great, but it showed how the Packers was all that Ted had. He gave the team his full devotion. You have to imagine that his resignation must have hit him hard because it wasn't like he had a wife and kids and grandkids to occupy his time afterwards.

Forever the White Wizard in my heart for drafting Aaron Rodgers, and delivering an Owl. It wasn't always pretty, certainly not towards the end, but he always stuck to his philosophical guns. Respect, thank you and RIP.

RIP Ted will always appreciate the incredible culture you built and delivering the ultimate prize of a super bowl trophy. Drafting Rodgers and moving on from Brett took major guts and that should always be appreciated. His first two picks would have been pro football hall of famers if Collins career wasn’t cut short.

He still has a significant role in this years team too as most of the team leaders are still his guys. Let’s go win this one for Ted.

The guy who drafted Aaron Rodgers and basically told Favre to pack his **** and get out lol. TT will always have a ton of legacy just for those 2 decisions alone. Set us up to be good for a long long time. RIP.

The amount of crap slung at TT for getting rid of Favre was ridiculous. Packer fans can be the worst.
