Re: Wolves season watch thread for the 2021 pick
So the bottom 3 teams have 40% odds of getting #1-3.
The 4th worst team has 36.6% odds of getting #1-3.
The 5th worst team has 31.6% odds of getting one of the top 3 picks.
The 6th worst team has 27.6% odds.
If Minnesota ends up a bottom 4 team, Warriors will need help in the Draft Lottery to keep them from getting the top 3 pick.
Warriors need to draw big ratings in national games to motivate the NBA to fix the lottery in their favor. League was counting on huge BRI to help the league's overall finances so they may try to fix it for the Warriors like they fixed it for the Lakers.

The odds suggest that it is Minnesota that will need more help to keep their pick regardless of where they finish.

Yeah but NBA has financial incentives to help bigger market teams, from the increased TV ratings, march sales, etc.

Sure if you think the draft lottery is perfectly transparent and on the up and up.

The past 10 first picks have gone to: Cleveland 3x, Minnesota 2x, Philadelphia 2x, New Orleans 2x and Phoenix. But sure, it's rigged in favor of big market teams and everybody who doesn't see it must be naive.

NBA wants to be on 24x7 for everything, except China... So why not let people see the lottery process as a documentary after the results? Don't they want more people watching their NBA materials? Still don't understand the hidden behind the curtain process.

Its filmed, there are all 14 team representatives there, and I believe there's even a 3rd party auditor team there as well.
0% chance that its rigged. But thing is, if you show a video, conspiracy theorists will find something to obsess on anyways so its not like showing the process will quiet the lunacy

Lakers got #2 pick in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
What are the odds of that, 3 consecutive #2 picks?

I think the Pistons being worse is a given. If the Rockets get rid of Tucker and Gordon they' might be worse. Unfortunately I think that's the only two teams they'll stay ahead of.

Don't forget team Westbrick!
They have not played in a week, but are seriously bad.

I agree, I don't see any other team being worse than the Wolves.KevinMcreynolds wrote:I think the Pistons being worse is a given. If the Rockets get rid of Tucker and Gordon they' might be worse. Unfortunately I think that's the only two teams they'll stay ahead of.
Maybe Washington if Westbrook continues to suck or Beal is traded.

Re: Wolves season watch thread for the 2021 pick
Just thinking ahead... I wonder if any surprise superstar trade requests pop up next offseason. If Warriors end up with Minny's pick, do they try to set up a package for another star? Or do they keep the pick to draft a possible future all-star to pair with Wiseman to develop as cornerstones for the future, while still being competitive with Steph/Klay/Draymond (and Oubre or Wiggins?).

I think if the Warriors make a trade, it's going to be a player on the level of a Paul George, who is not going to be available by the way. So I see the Warriors keeping that pick more and more unless some elite player gets disgruntled.

I don't know what superstar could pop up, but as a general rule I say keep the pick. Use it like they did Wiseman, both to help now and build for later.

Is that rhetorical or do you really want the odds?

The odds just changed last year. The previous years were weighted heavily in favor of the bottom 3. That is no longer the case.

The KAT trades to GS in this Wolves forum thread are pretty out there: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2043546
I mean my god. I wouldn't even want KAT on the team at all. No defense bigs do not win championships. I sure hope they find a different trading partner if KAT goes out.

Re: Wolves season watch thread for the 2021 pick
IF the Wolves ended up with the #4 pick and IF Evan Mobley was available would you be on board with drafting him? He is 7'0 and can play the forward position. Imagine having two 7 footers on the floor and both being mentored by Draymond.
Here is a video of him playing against Wiseman for a size comparison:
