Something to keep an eye on in regards to Jonathan Isaac and Markelle Fultz.

Lamb has returned to action almost 11 months to the day of his ACL tear.

smart way to tank the season would be trading away fournier and gordon for expirings, keeping vuc and not signing any capable PG.

should be enough to secure a top pick. then cross your fingers so the weltman doesn't waste away the pick, return next season with a top-5 pick, free agent signings, isaac, fultz, and vuc.

This guy is right, we are not tanking. We are plenty happy with 10th seed, and a game or two to prove we belong in the playoffs.
Thinking we are tanking and having a possibility of getting a franchise player this offseason is just a fantasy, and a recipe for disappointment.

The Magic Organization, the Orlando media, and the overwhelming majority of the fanbase are perfectly satisfied with a team with a long term trajectory of a 6th seed. Keeps the seats warm, the tvs on, and the fans knowing they can win any given night (during the regular season).

Look at Portland, just lost Nurkic for 6 weeks. a trade of Birch, for Simmons or Little would benefit both teams. I'd like Trent Jr., but I think they need him, plus he's a FA after this year. The other 2 we'd have for at least 2 years.

They got Kanter I dont see that need forBirch

Kanter played 27 min in their last game as the starter. They don't have a 3rd center on the team.
They are 6th in the standings, it's the west. The 6 weeks Nurkic is out could cost them the playoffs. Dallas and DEN looking to move up.
(Of course now with CJ out, they maybe in more trouble)

Does anyone know a 7'1, 325lbs C that we could get along with a 6'7 playmaking/scoring PG?

Weltman was probably hoping to develop his young players for a few years and then make a big trade in hopes to tie it all together. Problem is all his young players either couldn't stay on the floor to develop or are just slow developers to begin with. Now he's going to be backed into a corner for his contract year where his young players aren't where he hoped yet he still has to present a "finished" product to upper management. So what happens when he's finally pressured to make a big trade for a player he thinks can immediately help his team? Should we brace for a hennigan-level disaster trade?

When's Weltman's and Hammond's contract year? This year? Or next? God let it be this year.

I fully support his anti-tank sentiment. Feel free to demolish him on his love for Otto Porter tho

Tankers and anti-tankers both want the team to succeed, just have different ways of going about it. Doesn't make either less of a fan.

Yeah, pro or anti tank, the results are completely out of our hands regardless.

But man, seeing how happy and supportive the team were of Cole last night - that was a genuine feel good moment and I actually think it was good for the image of this team. As much as us fans might be disappointed in the play of the team, players and management alike have all said that the team like each other, and this moment shows it. That's good for the reputation of the team when you see stars like Durant and Kyrie leaving contenders because they want to enjoy their work environment as well as compete.

So, I'm gonna appreciate that for now.

it's not a matter of having a personal preference one way or another. it's about making the most of the given circumstances.

AG and fournier will both leave in free agency. but I'm worried weltman -in fear of getting fired- will try to hold on to them so the team's record doesn't regress this season. then in a few years when we don't have any assets to even make playoffs, he'll get fired anyway. we'll end up in another 5-year bottom-dwelling cycle with a new GM.

if we trade them, maybe we can salvage a top-5 pick and cap space for the summer from a season no one acutally cares about. with some competency in the management, that's a much hopeful place to start the next season.

anyway. the idea that we would never tank is dumb by the way. we tanked quite hard just a few years ago, we just sucked at it. we're now trying to do a slow climb, but we're sucking at that as well.

It was actually Fultz for Jonathan Simmons and what ended up being the 21st pick in this years draft which was Tyrese Maxey

I was as pro tank as anyone. In 2018 I was pissed anytime we won. I had tankathon as my homepage. Lol. But the odds have changed. Its not even worth it anymore. Im fine with us losing and I have no desire to go to the playoffs. However the days of caring about being the 5th worst vs the 7th worse are over to me.

The scale was simply rebalanced but the reward for finishing at or near the bottom remains.

Just look at the standings from last year compared to the resulting lottery picks. A bit of reshuffling (which is the point) but overall those at the bottom were rewarded with top picks.

All we can do is finish as close as possible to the bottom 3 and hope for the best. At least there is a non-trivial chance of something great happening for our organization in that case. What are the odds something great happens for us in the playoffs? — 0.00% that’s what.

Look at 2019 though Knicks had the worst record and picked 3rd. Missing out on Zion and Morrant. Cavs had the 2nd worse and drafted 5th. Imagine losing 63 games and being rewarded with the 6th pick. Thd new odds opens the possibility for way more wacky stuff. Its just not worth it no more. Im hope and believe we will be in the lottery regardless. But Im not going out of my way to straight root against the Magic anymore. Ive been doing that since 2013. Im exausted.
