Besides them, i dont even know. Top of the West (Lebron or PG) will likely be in the mix, but to me, they (and i mean Lebron here) only really have a chance if everyone else flops. He's like the default pick if the Lakers win the West. Giannis wont win, so anybody else with an MVP season (superstar year, play enough, win enough) will take it.

Giannis stats down across the board and most memorable thing he has done this year is Aaron Gordon dunking on him and the 1-10 free throw game.

There a handful of guys having better years than Giannis this season.

The guys who have better numbers either have better teammates or a worse record. Giannis will still be the only guy on a top team with elite stats and no superstar help.

There is basically zero chance Giannis wins it a third time in a row due to his disappearing act in the playoffs and voter fatigue.

Middleton and Jrue is better than what Embiid has at this point.

Ya, i think Embiid's at the top right now. I just dont think he plays enough or that Philly wins enough (i see them moving a little back into the 3rd/4th spot)

Why is Jokic's name being thrown around in here when his team is a 10th seed

because he's playing better than Embiid.

Because he has been the best player in the NBA this season, averaging a >25 point super efficient triple-double from the center position (that narrative alone will garner him massive attention from a narrative standpoint). He leads the league in PER, WinShares (+WS/48), BPM and VORP along with a +14.5 Net Rating (they're -7 with him off the floor). The Nuggets are underperforming to start the season at .500, but that is not indicative of their level of play (already having the 6th best net rating in the NBA, I fully expect them to finish top 4 in the conference once MPJ comes back and Murray steps it up a bit). If I had to make a bet on who wins MVP this year, he is in the best position to do so.

Solid, but historically the MVP has gone to players dominating on winning teams. Which is why Bradley Beal averaging 35 on nearly 50/40/90 won't ever have his name brought up in this thread.

"Solid" lol. That's one way to put it ; )

It's too early to bother with standings. Again, despite an underwhelming Murray and virtually no MPJ on the floor, they have the 6th best net rating in the NBA. They finished 3rd in the conference last season, and I see no reason to expect much else this year. The record will come. The level of play is more important at this point (given that the record will come).

You sold me. I didn't understand the extent to which how dominating he's been playing.

The Nuggets team is so shallow, especially when MPJ can't stay on the floor. Lets see if he can carry them.

The MVP is clearly LeBron right now. He’s lost multiple MVPs off BS and now when he rightfully deserves to be in the lead y’all don’t want to give it to him lol.

This is the obvious answer. The lakers are comfortably the best team and he’s comfortably the biggest reason why. He’s the most valuable player in the league. Give the man his due
