Im fine with us losing and I have no desire to go to the playoffs. However the days of caring about being the 5th worst vs the 7th worse are over to me.

The scale was simply rebalanced but the reward for finishing at or near the bottom remains.

Just look at the standings from last year compared to the resulting lottery picks. A bit of reshuffling (which is the point) but overall those at the bottom were rewarded with top picks.

All we can do is finish as close as possible to the bottom 3 and hope for the best. At least there is a non-trivial chance of something great happening for our organization in that case. What are the odds something great happens for us in the playoffs? — 0.00% that’s what.
Look at 2019 though Knicks had the worst record and picked 3rd. Missing out on Zion and Morrant. Cavs had the 2nd worse and drafted 5th. Imagine losing 63 games and being rewarded with the 6th pick. Thd new odds opens the possibility for way more wacky stuff. Its just not worth it no more. Im hope and believe we will be in the lottery regardless. But Im not going out of my way to straight root against the Magic anymore. Ive been doing that since 2013. Im exausted.

**** happens.

There are (at least) 4 or 5 players this year who would have been the unanimous #1 overall last year.

I roll the dice on a chance of landing top 5 this year.

What good does landing a pick in the teens do for this roster?

But man, seeing how happy and supportive the team were of Cole last night - that was a genuine feel good moment and I actually think it was good for the image of this team. As much as us fans might be disappointed in the play of the team, players and management alike have all said that the team like each other, and this moment shows it. That's good for the reputation of the team when you see stars like Durant and Kyrie leaving contenders because they want to enjoy their work environment as well as compete.

So, I'm gonna appreciate that for now.

So feel good they took the tweet down.

NBA probably told them to... they gotta pretend they're taking covid more seriously than they actually are.

Hadn't realised they'd taken that down. I mean, the bench all got up and hugged the dude at the end so no point trying to hide the locker room celebrations, but I guess they have?

I'm guessing it was the liquids being thrown everywhere in an enclosed space that did it. NBA or Magic PR team must have had a panic attack.

As you know, Covid is afraid to spread when guys are fouling each other, but superspreads when they hug at half court.

This organization wouldn't go after him if he had a Larry O'Brien trophy in his pants and I don't blame them.

Have you seen his history?

The only print ownership has panted on management is "bring in high quality guys." Indeed the only time that did not occur was for the Gilbert-Arenas show, and that was a fiasco.

There's some pretty decent players there you could get on the cheap. But Dumb and Dumber won't do that because it would require effort and actually doing their jobs and taking a small risk.

Problem is, we'd have to cut 1 player. Clark makes sense playing wise, especially if/when Chief gets back. But eating nearly $2M dollars this year for what real gain? Doesn't make sense.
Unless one of those above wants a 2-way deal, which I'm only interested in Crabbe or Mudiay and maybe Thomas.

Our PG rotation is made of 2 guys who are not even average backup PGs... One does not even belong in nba. Mudiay, IT , Napier are all upgrades over our starter.
Right now we are too good to tank and too bad to compete for playoffs.
We are not going anywhere with Gordon dribbling ball, we are going nowhere with Cole Anthony starting.

But in same time we are not going to suck hard enough with Vuc, Evan, Gordon at helm.

In spite of my very strong anti-tank position, I am sour that the FO isn't utilizing this crazy season, with all of it's injuries, cancellations, and lack of revenue to take some chances...the suggestions in the previous posts make no sense to me...this is a chance to give a shot to an UNDER utilized guy and see if we can unearth a gem for the future (knowing that sucking this year could be a very good thing anyway). Why on Earth would I sign Kyle Korver or Allen Crabbe, etc? ALL they can do is offer temporary cheap veteran short-sighted help. There's no risk this year to screwing around and giving somebody with potential a shot...whoever it is, it's not like they will be taking us to the ECF...trade AG or Evan for guys that were intriguing a draft or two ago but haven't gotten a shot for whatever reason and play Bamba ASAP. Running Vuc into the ground to get 35 wins is possibly the stupidest option...NAW is my favorite in this category but NOLA may not be interested...only better alternative is throw everything at WAS for Beal or somewhat similar scale deal (MPJ, Lavine, Siakim...)

There are a lot of fans that keep saying the Magic have been at a disadvantage because we were playing without all these starters, while we were down 2, Fultz and Fournier. Isaac was never part of the plan for this season, we knew far ahead he wouldn't play this year.

Orlando has caught every break so far. We played Cleveland twice a couple weeks ago, when they didn't have a healthy point guard on the roster.
Celtics no Tatum,
Timberwolves no KAT.
Knicks - Noon start after Knicks played the afternoon before
Nets - No Kyrie
Mavs - No Porzingis
Tonight Pacers are missing 3 key starters

ESPN had the Magic having the easiest first half schedule because of strength of schedule and they had the most number of games playing against teams that were in the second game of a back to back.

We have been unlucky with injuries, but we have been extremely fortunate in who we played when. If we can't take advantage of these other teams misfortune, that is evidence of the quality of this year's team.

I agree. But what does the FO do? If they have to get rid of a player to upgrade? Is the upgrade worth the sunk ~$1.6+M to cut someone?

I really enjoyed this, Timmy is one of most humble nba superstars out there, yet very smart, well spoken and flat out likeable

i'm guessing some of our injured guys are close to coming back? i heard Chuma/Aminu did some stuff in practice and MCW was questionable for tonight's game which means he's really close to coming back as well
