Getting away with a forearm is much easier to do than getting away with charges you don't even try avoiding.M-C-G wrote:Krispy Kreme wrote:Lebron doesn't get called for them because Lebron doesn't force things and just go bowling into guys.M-C-G wrote:
Not surprising for two main reasons;
1. teams are using that wall to wait for him to drive and literally throwing players trying to draw charges underneath him. Saw it last night with Caruso, Harrell, etc. It is literally part of the game plan against Giannis and let's be honest, it is effective until we do something to counter. Would be fantastic to see at least one back door cut while he drives, but I feel like I have been waiting three years and not sure we have done it once. No one works baseline so they stay out of his way and that is the obvious counter to the way teams are defending him, but what do I know?
2. The complete lack of respect from officials on these blocks is maddening. There is no way LeBron gets called for charges on 50% of these drives. I can speculate why, but the end of the day, NBA officiating is so biased, and as of now, Giannis still isn't in the 'club'...because the straight number of questionable calls that go against him is staggering.
LeBron used his forearm as a battering ram about 15 times and guess what, not one offensive foul.

The only one who is causing Giannis to lead the league in offensive fouls are Giannis and, to some extent, Bud for playing him out of position.
When a defense sets itself up to block off your path to the hoop and your solution is to try to plow through it and hope for a block, you're going to commit a lot of offensive fouls.
I can't even imagine watching the way Giannis plays offensively and thinking the officials are screwing us over.
It's insane.
And yes, that's separate from the fact that Giannis gets hacked a lot and doesn't always get the whistle.

It would still be an offensive foul if we had a backdoor cut because Giannis would still slam into the defender. He needs to fake the drive and pull up in front of the defender. I mean it's so obvious he has a free play if he just pulls up in front of defenders trying to take the charge.
I agree he doesn't get "in the club" officiating, but I'm also not sure how you can expect him to get in the club officiating on charges that are usually charges.M-C-G wrote:Krispy Kreme wrote:Getting away with a forearm is much easier to do than getting away with charges you don't even try avoiding.M-C-G wrote:

Not sure you are missing my point, but let me clarify, Giannis does not get in the 'club' officiating. What the club is and how you get in, I have no idea, but he gets about the least positive calls of any MVP/star I can remember.

It's a 50/50 call that's difficult to make. He makes it more difficult by not even trying to avoid contact.

Thank you. As I assumed....Giannis leads the league in offensive fouls committed.

Giannis needs to stop shooting threes and Nwora needs to get Pat's minutes.
I know Nwora does almost nothing well aside from shooting but he should be given every chance to improve during the regular season. Who cares what seed we are. Its time to get serious.
It doesn't matter if they're available. Donte is literally the only guy who's worth ANYTHING.pilprin wrote:Outside of Holliday...Midds...and Giannis...everyone should be available on the trade market. I do not like how the pieces fit on this team at all.
I like Brook, Portis, Forbes, DJ, and Dante individually, but collectively this team needs work. Maybe they will gel...but I just don't see it right now.
DJ Wilson is filler in any deal
