Hawks visit Minnesota, aim for third straight win



After a stretch of six losses in seven games, the Atlanta Hawks began this week in favorable fashion. Atlanta emerged victorious over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday and, after a comeback victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, the Hawks and Wolves face off again on Friday evening. This time, however, Target Center will host the proceedings in Minneapolis.

The Wolves are struggling in a mighty, losing 10 of their last 11 games as the Hawks arrive. Minnesota continues to operate without the team’s best player, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Ricky Rubio is also sidelined for this contest. Minnesota currently ranks as a bottom-five team in both offensive and defensive efficiency and, without Towns on the floor, the Wolves are arguably the worst team in the NBA.

Atlanta will likely be the betting favorite by tip-off, even if Hunter and Reddish can’t play. That says a lot about the state of Minnesota’s roster, but the Hawks must perform at a higher level than they reached, at least in totality, during either Monday’s game or Wednesday’s game to feel confident about picking up a third consecutive win.

Last time we got 3 in a row is when we started out with a 3-0 record. We haven’t had even a two game win streak since then till now, let’s get it tonight and build on it. It’s not about the Wolves and whose playing or not, it’s about how we execute our game plan and stick to it through the ups and downs of the game. Every team makes runs, it’s important who can sustain them best.

Capela keeps it rolling and so do our boys for the third time in a row. I think that stamps player of the week for Capela and more importantly, a problem for other teams moving forward. Triple double 13/19/10 blocks. I’m guessing the most blocks since Smoove had 9 or 10 against Dallas at home in 06 if I’m not mistaken or maybe Deke before that and Tree before him.

Trae was lights out from 3. Career best 8 three pointers made for 43 points total tonight.

Great night altogether. Nice win Hawks let’s get ready for Giannis on Sunday.
