We can retire Kyle’s jersey. Plenty of players are moved from the team they played most of their career on and were better for it.
The only way I might’ve not wanted to trade Kyle was if his entire career was in Toronto. But since he started with Memphis and Houston it’s not really all that big a deal to have him spend the end of his career. When he retires, he’s still mainly going to be known for his career as a raptors rather than anything else.
Kyle himself has said he has looked to sign with other teams in the past (See SA).
The thing with Kyle is he’s still a good player and you can do him a favour by putting him on a contender and get something out of it.
