wtf happened to zion. Literally all of zions shortcomings coming out of college was supposed to be rj's fault oh and rj was supposed to be the lazy defender while zion was the enthusiastic one. Is stan **** up?

I feel like the NBA game is too wide open and fast paced for Zion to lock down the paint like he did in college being only 6’6

RJ is a two-way player. Zion is not.

Now I'm glad we got RJ instead of Zion

RJ's defense is often excellent. And if he is going to be a shooter like he has been recently, then there really is no comparison at all.

I'll take a slower and steady climb to sustainable stardom over a flash in a pan any day.

And RJ wants it more than Zion. I'll also take his attitude and desire to win over a guy like Zion any day.

If Zion was fully committed, he'd have dropped weight already. He just doesn't love playing enough to bother and his body won't hold up.

His weight is a double edge sword, it's what allows him to play bully ball but it's also what hurts him on defense since he's slow laterally. Plus, he's not like Draymond or PJ Tucker, he's got relatively short arms, so that limits him defensively.

He's going to score points, but you can stop him like you do Giannis, and his defense is going to be horrible until he loses weight and then his offense will suffer a little when he can't just barrel over guys anymore.

I never expected defense from Zion...but then again I never followed him in college....

I think we are starting to witness the work/reps RJ has been putting in on his shot. He was almost automatic tonight , no hesitation what so ever. I'm really excited about this kid right now.

The motto was "Tank for Zion." Now it seems like that was kind of a false hope. If we'd drafted him, we'd all be crying, "Tank with Zion."

RJ Barret last 6 games

21.7/6.5/3.5 on 51/45/88

If he keeps this up you have to start to ask if this is just a good stretch or this is the actual level he is at and the first 10 games was him just shaking off rust from an extended off season.

Putting up these numbers and splits as a 20 year old is SCARY.

Why do folks need to talk s*** about other young studs to hype RJ? Can't we just be happy that we've got a good one & enjoy his growth?

rj really struggled after game 1, he went on a 10 game stretch where he shot 33%.

but even in that rough stretch he was getting open looks and his jumper looked clean, right now it's his just trusting the process.
