Hayward for Porter Jr.
Just watched the Char game-Hayward looks great. Char plays hard, but they clearly need another young stud. Ball is off to a great start, impressed by his D. Graham looks like a keeper, possibly long term 6th man. Washington and Bridges are solid. But, they could use a top 5 pick this year
Bulls look MUCH better this year. Lavine has really stepped up with passing and defense. Donovan makes a huge difference, and we have tons of young players and cap space. But, FA looks week. How about this
Hayward for Porter Jr and the Bulls top 3 protected 1st
Char still gets a vet SF to eat minutes and provide stability, but won't win them games. They hope the Bulls miss the playoffs, and save a bunch of long term $
Bulls get their FA now. Hayward is a great 2nd option, Lauri perfect as a 3rd option. Bulls move Williams to the bench, and let him develop slowly.

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
I figure Hayward isn't eligible to be traded until sometime in Feb (not sure of the date). If the Bulls are over .500 at that point, and still improving, it might be a good gamble. Currently we have Williams, White, Gafford, Carter, Lauri and Hutchinson on rookie deals. This draft looks top heavy so far, so we can survive without an 11-16 pick, to get a SF like Hayward. Plus, it gives us a big deal in a few years, once Williams is ready for prime time, to deal.
I just like how we look, but White and Lavine would REALLY benefit from another ballhandler/creator, and Williams can get 18 min a nite off the bench to develop his game. By 2022-23, Williams starts and Hayward is 6th man-then he is a huge expiring to play with

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
I don't think Charlotte can do this after making such a committment to Hayward in the off-season.
I said in another thread, I don't think it's bad form to move a guy you just signed to a 1 year deal (or even a 2 year deal) in the same year because there is an expectation that it's short-term for both sides. Hayward just signed on for a 4 year deal and I have to assume Charlotte made a ton of guarantees for him to do it. Just don't see it happening.

Bulls wouldn't want Hayward contract and no way they'll give up a 1st to get him.

Haywards play seems to b exceeding expectations in Cha, it was just months ago they aggressively went out to get him. Why would they look to move him a few weeks into the season?

Cavs add Drummond and a top-3 pick to the bidding.

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
Porter Jr? There are three, so I just had to look.
I don't think Charlotte wants to trade Hayward. The added 1st would definitely be worth considering though. Porter wouldn't be all that bad for them - just not as good as Hayward for their team IMO.
I'm not convinced either player is a long-term fit for Chicago. If I am the Bulls, I would not give up a 1st for this deal. They need some more young players. Although Hayward probably makes them a little better (just not enough).

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
If the Bulls were looking at 2021 free agency and thinking Hayward at that price was their primary focus, there's still no way I'd give up a FRP plus the cap space to trade for him. Find another target. Getting Hayward takes Markkanen out of the picture because your front court for the next 3-4 years is Hayward and Williams. You have to resign Lavine because there's no 2021 FRP to get his replacement at SG or a PG so you move White over,

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
Bulls go with this lineup for the next two years
White/Sato
Lavine/Temple
Hayward/Williams
Lauri/Young
Carter/Gafford
That is a good lineup, deep and balanced. Maybe Young doesn't come back next year, and Williams backs up both forward spots (with Hutch). With how solid the Bulls look at the moment (that's why this trade is not immediate-if this strong play keeps up), Bulls get a big shooting/playmaking upgrade with Hayward. Their biggest issue is turnovers-and Hayward would ease the White/Lavine stress on the ball. Plus, his shot would help a ton to add space

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
It’s a good offer and a fair offer. I could go either way on it. Hayward seems like a great role model, leader for the young guys, tone setter for the team culture. I hate to lose that.
The pick probably doesn’t end up in the lottery if the bulls or the cavs got Hayward.
If the front office wanted to do it, I think they would need to ask Hayward what he wanted to do because he signed so recently. If he is happy about going to a contender, there wouldn’t be any hard feelings about being traded so recently after being signed and he could say good things about us and we could continue to sign free agents in the future.

I also figure he is from Indiana, so going to Chi (big market, close to home) would be agreeable to him. He also would probably like to plan with Lavine

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
I watched the game as well. Our teams are pretty close and records nearly identical.
So I think this type of move where one team loses its star player can work in either direction.
Your offer of a top 3 pick is comparable to my counter offer of our 3 pick for LaVine.
Is it clear you want to tear down and commit fully to a rebuild?
No? Then why should the Hornets commit to it? We are moving in the same direction, after all.
Furthermore, some here declared the Hayward signing horrible management. Today Hayward holds top pick value. Oh, but 9 million cap.

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
I would love for Charlotte to add a first but it was hard enough to sign a free agent this summer. Harrell turned down more money from us to go to LA and we had to offer significantly more for Hayward than other teams were offering. If we trade our biggest signing out almost immediately after we sign him it makes it even harder in the future. Charlotte says no

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
I'd do it easily, but the organization likely won't. They seem fully determined to make the 1st round of the playoffs and never win a playoff series, and this takes us away from that "goal".

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
If Hayward was dead set against it, then he stays. But I think Chi is definitely a step ahead of Char
Lavine is better and younger than Hayward
I like Williams more than Ball (both look good)
I think Lauri is better than Washington
Carter is better than Bridges
Graham is better than White (not by much)
Plus we have Hutchinson and Gafford as young, cheap pieces.
You add Hayward to that group, and we could sneak into the 2nd round if we keep improving (probably not, but a chance).
Char could really use another young stud to build with-and Hayward will keep them out of the bottom 5. This is the PERFECT season to tank, with a shortened schedule and no fans-plus a very promising lottery
Finally, that Bulls with Hayward probably make the playoffs, but Char could easily get a #10 pick (and tons of cap space-or financial savings). Porter just serves as a stop gap at the 3 for them

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
If Hayward continues to play this well by the break, a team that is a piece away like Dallas, Denver or Indiana will offer way more than what you are offering. He's a perfect fit in all of those places.

Williams over Ball? No way in hell. The rest can go either way. My counter is Rozier + Hornets top 3 protected first for LaVine.
LaMelo - LaVine is better than anything the Bulls can build.

Re: Hayward for Porter Jr.
I tend to think Charlotte signed Hayward because they want to keep him and play him. I doubt they'd move him for an expiring and a FRP until they know what the value of that FRP is.
