Love watching him but always thought he was one of the most overrated fighter that's considered great. I believe he defended his belt only once and yet he was in the class of Jones, Khabib, etc.

Ya I’m honestly not as familiar with MMA as I am boxing, but imo Connor’s not as well rounded enough as Jon Jones or dominant in one particular skill like Khabib and his dominance on the ground.

He's one of the most technically gifted to step in the octagon but his heart and resilience haven't exactly been impenetrable. Don't think he has ever reversed a losing momentum in a fight which is bonkers for someone that got this big. Really puts in perspective how good Jones and GSP are to never waiver when facing adversity

And consider the amount of fights those guys had defending their belts and always fighting the best. Conner had a long ways to go to even come close to those guys.

Now if he stayed committed, maybe he could have got there but it's hard to blame him for taking the money. I certainly would lol.

Conor's entire career was smoke and mirrors. His career is akin to Steph Curry's.

Dana White in shambles.

Maybe he should set up and easy win for Conor like the over the hill fighter Donald Cerrone. No disrespect to Cowboy but he was clearly past his prime.

Conor hasn't achieved anything in the MMA world since 2016.

It was sad watching that as a Conor fan. Felt like an end of era and definitely a big hit to his legacy.

He just looked...old. Not sure what he was thinking with his game plan or where his mind is.

Chandler has shown that he is the best pure athlete in the division. Quick, explosive, strong. I wonder how he will perform against the most technical 155 pounders.
I think Oliveira should be next for him, and the winner of that fight would challenge the champion.
Hooker should move up. He is tall with broad shoulders, can add 5-10 pounds, and 155 is packed with talent.

Conor is, in my opinion, still a better fighter in a 3 round fight than Poirier. Not sure about rounds 4 and 5, but he was better in most exchanges. After the last calf kick, he was static all of a sudden, and got beaten up as a result. Great job by Poirier delivering those calf kicks.
Poirier should fight Gaetje again, this time for the 155 title, they are the best in the division until someone not named Khabib beats them.
Conor can fight a lower ranked 155 pounder next, or can move up temporarily for a money fight (Masvidal, Diaz III), which is what I would do if I were him or Dana. I'd like to see him fight Poirier again, maybe early next year, and I think Conor would make the necessary adjustments, and with no ring rust finish him in the first 2 rounds.

Anybody misses Khabib at 155?!

I’m an MMA homer, but card in card out the production and entertainment value you get from the UFC vs Boxing is night and day. Just a far more entertaining time watching an UFC fight.

I’d love to see Chandler vs Gaethje but Do Bronx would also be fun

My Boy Dustin won me 300 bucks tonight

Suprised Conor didn't try to end it earlier and expend more energy, Those calf kicks really sapped him and it showed the start of the second round

Once Conor had his leg out it, Dustin was an issue. Really happy for him, Super under-rated fighter, Im glad this will stop the idea McGregor will walk into a title fight, I hope It's Dustin V Olivera next which is a huge style mismatch,

Very excited for this year for the lightweight/Welterweights

I used to be a boxing homer, but enjoying mma more nowadays. I like that I don’t have to wait years for certain matchups to happen plus there’s far more interesting personalities in mma.

Saw the odds for DP and decided to bet $100 for fun. Was kinda nervous as Conor was landing clean shots to start the fight but after seeing him give his legs up I knew DP was going to win. Props to Conor though, I like this new humble version of him.

Conor is done. He's not going to be a force in the Lightweight division anymore. He'll be a win one lose one kind of fighter.

I'm excited for Chandler and hope he does great things in the UFC, he's a great fighter and by most accounts an even better person.

I think Conor is done as an elite fighter, time for him to hang'em up and find a different outlet. He's still got a lot of brand power as long as he doesn't stick around too long and become a gatekeeper. He's got a lot of options outside of the octagon, there's no need for him to continue fighting, he's already had a legendary fighting career.

Ring rust? What are these excuses. Obviously you're a McGregor fan especially considering how you ended that post about Khabib...

His peak was everything you wanted in a fighter, but Conor is done in MMA. Try boxing, maybe he'll surprise us.. probably not at this point..

Seeing mcgregor throw so many off balance slappy one twos makes one thing certain. Jake Paul sends that man to hell in a boxing match

I wouldn’t say everything you want...Conor really isn’t even that far off his peak ability. His grappling and wrestling have always been lackluster. His stamina is relatively poor. His chin is eh. Khabib is/was significantly better, and so is GSP for example whether that would’ve required him going down in weight or Conor going up. Conor is what he is. An elite fighter and one of the best strikers the UFC has ever seen but he’s always been far from some unbeatable force. The trash talking and charisma are more so what made him the face of the league - not his ability.
