GT #12: Washington Wizards & San Antonio Spurs 1/24/2021 8:00PM

Post#1 » by nate33 » Sun Jan 24, 2021 3:01 pm

13 days after their most recent game, the Wizards fly to Texas to face the Spurs.

Due to Coronavirus protocols, the Wizards are without everybody. It's just a bunch of guys from the YMCA that they put in uniforms and put on a plane.

Out:
Hachimura (Coronavirus protocol)
Avdija (Coronavirus protocol)
Smith (Coronavirus protocol)
Brown (Coronavirus protocol)
Wagner (Coronavirus protocol)
Bertans (Coronavirus protocol)
Bryant (ACL injury)

Questionable:
Westbrook (Quad injury)
Neto (Groin injury)

The actual lineup should look something like this:
PG Beal/Winston
SG Robinson/Mathews
SF Bonga
PF Gil/Bell
C Lopez/Len

San Antonio is 8-8 and better than the Wizards.

I kind of like a Beal, Matthews, Bonga, Gill, Lopez lineup.

Kind of scrappy, everyone knows their roles.

But, my guess is that Brooks does this...,

Winston
Beal/Robinson
Bonga/Matthews
Gil/Bell
Lopez/Len

Either way, will be kind of fun to watch.

PG: Beal 48 mins
SG: Robinson 48
SF: Gill 36, Bonga 6, Mathews 6
PF: Bell 42, Gill 6
C: Lopez 24, Len 24

Wiz win 187-185, no OT. :P

Can't watch the game live, but I'll check it tomorrow. Gonna be interesting one...

I think we should get extra fouls! -- it's only fair, come on!

Either that, or they have to designate two starters required to play with one hand tied behind their back!

Too bad we don't have Mason Jones, huh? We'd be all right. Still... we'll probably shock the world & win!

I'm actually happy they we had all of these postponements. That's if you are still holding onto some faith that Russ will start looking dominant and help get us into the playoffs. He's been hurt but hasn't really missed any games because of our postponements and now seems about ready to go when we are restarting

I’m not sure two bionic legs would help that jump shot.

I’m in full “rooting for losses” mode. The only thing giving me hope for this franchise is a top-3 pick in the draft. Meaningless wins en route to a .400 season doesn’t do it for me.

Len almost killed Beal on that dribble hand-off.

Westbrook jumps like he's a middle aged man in the YMCA now.

its not a bad 1st Q. Given the rust and the new players, we are doing fine. I do wish Westbrook would not shoot long jumpers.

Agreed. He’s got no pop...I hope they know what they are doing with him...looks like he is not fully recovered from the quad injury
