Sounds like a perfect landing spot for Ben Simmons.

Any team that built with that increasing growing trend of having 2 combo guard backcourts would make Ben a perfect fit.

You mean like a team who closes games with Shake and Seth Curry types? :)

Yup, and ive said that before. This is why I created a thread about why Shake and Seth should start, and let those two guards make more plays on halfcourt offense than Ben.

We can emulate that effect with those two at the backcourt.

The acquisition of Harden is looking like a luxury move for the Nets. The sum is less than its parts in Brooklyn right now.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Pelle is a smart pickup for the Nets. He’s about 70% of a Jarrett Allen.

More like 7%, not picking on Pelle but he is a fringe guy and Allen will be getting a huge payday and deservedly so. He isn’t in the Jokic and Embiid class of bigs, but is right there in the next tier down.

That next tier down is a pretty big tier. I like Allen okay, but in general, I just don’t think a rim runner with so-so defensive impact is worth a big payday. I think Pelle will thrive playing with elite pick and roll guards for a lot less money.

Damn, wish we could have drafted a self confident, alpha scorer who doesn’t take childish bait from Shaq.

Dion would have 100% taken the bait.

Donovan can be childish, too, though. Like wearing a hoodie to a game with the definition of what a rookie was when he was salty that Ben Simmons was leading the RoTY chase.

I mean, he was being a troll and probably got some $$ for his mini marketing campaign from that. I think it's a little different than being blasted by a HOF on the spot on national television about how he's not going to reach a certain level. He comes off as one of the most intelligent interviewees in the league.

Him and the entire state of Utah were so pissy and salty about that entire saga. You just reminded me why I hate them.

Whats worse is how their cap would look like once they have to re-sign those guys.

I didnt expect the Nets to overpay that much for Harden. So blindsided with that.

They could have atleast went for Beal or Lavine. Atleast those two are like 27 years old or younger. They wouldnt need to give up that much picks while they can stay competitive for a long time.

I mean Beal or Lavine isnt as good as Harden.. but look at how Harden played the last game. He has to defer his scoring, which IMO doesnt maximize what he brings to the table.

Beal, Kyrie and KD, would still give them an elite offensive firepower that nobody can match-up with, while you’d have better cap structure (i’d guess cheaper to re-sign Beal), less picks to give-up and better sustainable championship contender status.

Jarrett Allen isn't next tier down, probably 3rd or 4th tier. He's a serviceable Center who'll get played off the court against any good team in a playoff series. He's much less than Capella, Steven Adams and Horford. He's closer to Pelle than Capella.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Yup. It’s a marketing campaign from adidas.

Thats how marketing (and news) works nowadays.

Yea Jarrett Allen isn't good. He's another no-skill big that throws his body at the rim to block shots, but isn't impactful enough to not get violated by the elite bigs in the league. Also a nothing on the offensive end asides from catching lobs.

Elite S tier bigs are franchise caliber stars you can build an championship team around, Joel and that fat Serbian.

A tier 2 big would probably be guys like a KAT or Bam.

tier 3 would be guys like Nurkic, Ayton, Gobert

Allen is like a tier 5 big honestly. Not someone you'd have any attachment to beyond a rookie contract unless he were coming off the bench in spurts like 2021 washed Dwight

I really disliked Jarrett Allen as a prospect. He was a bigman that couldn't rebound or hit free throws. Yet he's become really good at both of those things in the NBA level. Strong work ethic in that kid. And he's a likeable, dorky personality that gets along with teammates and coaches.

Cavs brought back to reality by Celtics today after taking those 2 against the Nets. Jaylen put up 33 in 19 minutes...

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
