Not that I mind it, but why the all-NBA, all-star limits? Too few participants?

Since having a restriction was proposed, I was just throwing one out that I was considering trying out at some point.

I like it. Maybe just make it 44 so "half" your FGA have to be from non-allstars

Sounds like a good idea. I'd rather not commission because I'm half day ahead on timeline. Feel free to start this up once is pretty well ironed out. Maybe let the final of the game before the current game finish.

Maybe a consensus?

Limit of 40 FGA that can be used on All-Star/All-NBA players. Also no more than three such players per team.

Maybe post merger, that way Walton, Hayes etc can be picked?

For Fade and Laimbeer or anyone else for that matter, I’m not sure if a modern game has been done before with no Jordan AND LBJ but I think that’s a good idea for future game. I feel like sometimes they are too overpowering in these especially if the restrictions aren’t too strict. I don’t know about you but it’s pretty easy to build a contending team around LBJ and Jordan after playing way too many of these. Maybe have a bigger restriction for these two players compare to the rest. I don’t think there is a consensus one or two in a modern pool without these two as usual. Maybe I’m being bitter about my latest loss and I’m overthinking it but just a thought for you all to make it interesting and have something different possibly in a future game.

Along those lines, I had an idea earlier today for a draft. Basically a draft where you have to build around guys like Carmelo Anthony, Dominique Wilkins, etc. What about this:

I come up with a list of 16 players who we normally don't build around. Every drafter is required to take one of these players, and you may take them in any round you choose. The remaining 7 players on your team can have never made an All-NBA 1st team. Maybe Post Merger to get in some more rarely used 80s players.

Thoughts?

Definitely a feasible idea. A restriction like one player only that was on an Allnba team or one allstar only per team would make for more real life like teams.

Jordan doesn't really win that much anymore but most people know what to do with Lebron teams, we could do a 2010s draft without Lebron
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

How about a draft where you're limited to non all-stars either among bigger guys or smaller guys? Have a height cutoff. All-stars only 6'10 and above or 6'9 and below? Everyone chooses their own group.

Or it could be East and West as the divider?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I like this. If you don't want to call out LeBron by name you can say no one who has won more than two MVPs.

Maybe better just one allstar big and one guard or wing.

CSF mentioned playing without the big two and people seem to be liking more traditional games without crazy twists - I think this would be a good one.

We did something similar, but there were no restrictions on other players. This makes them central. Who have you got?

I think this would be a good game? Only allstars in chosen season though.

Chris Bosh

Mark Aguirre

Need a few others. Open to suggestions

How exactly are we defining terms here? Bosh is picked pretty frequently if not as a #1 option, and neither he nor Parish seems to fit the overall theme of that list.

I just came up with a list. No real rhyme or reason, mainly guys we don’t take as number 1 options rarely if ever. Definitely open to change!

I think you'd need high level criteria at least, something like:

- took at least 18+ shots per game
- never won a championship or never won a ring as a top 5 scorer
- can't select anyone who averages more FGA than them

My thinking was moreso based on how we draft, not their IRL results. No one takes Nique, Melo, AI, etc as their number 1 guy in our drafts. Yes none of them won a title and we could pivot to something more like that, but that wasn’t my initial point. With that criteria and without my list, someone like Ewing would be a prime target.

I was just making up criteria too. You could add that they can't have ever made an All-D team so that players like Ewing and Malone don't get taken
