Onyeka Okongwu is a gifted athlete whose improved frame, budding feel inside, and versatility on the defensive end helped him emerged as one of the most intriguing center prospects in college basketball. Okongwu finished his prep career regarded as one of the top-20 prospects in the class of 2019. Heading to USC to play for Head Coach Andy Enfield, Okongwu stepped into a significant role at a true freshman starting every game at the center position and finishing as the Trojan’s leading scorer and rebounder.

Averaging 16.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, he earned All-Pac-12 1st Team honors while gaining considerable momentum ahead of the 2020 NBA Draft.

  • Possessing good size at 6’9 with an above average wingspan and an excellent combination of quickness of leaping ability, Okongwu did a lot of his scoring last season above the rim. His 245-pound frame has improved significantly over the last two years, but his ability to maximize his frame remains a point of interest against traditional centers at the next level.
  • Finishing the year ranked among the most efficient offensive players in college basketball, Okongwu’s athleticism and activity level off the ball made him a productive screener, lob threat, and rebounder. He also proved extremely effective in the post and shot a solid percentage from the free throw line. With good hands and budding coordination, he impressed in a role that it is easy to see him playing in the NBA.
  • Showing considerable promise on the defensive end, Okongwu’s physical tools, timing, and effort-level made him a productive shot blocker, but his versatility shined at times as well. Regularly switching onto guards and holding his own, he has a rapidly developing feel for how to use his tools consistently on the defensive end.

:D
Hawk fans have watched many new draft picks make their mark in the NBA. We have waited for our own
Agent 0017 to get well so we might have someone we can talk about too.

Well, apparently, if things go as planned, tonight we will see our new Hawk in a game.

We need the depth he will provide to our injured team.

4 points 6 boards 2 dimes 1 steal 3 turnovers but one of two hawks with a plus rating. +1 for him and +5 for Snell. First game jitters but he’s gonna be a force.

I like the put back slam too that was good timing and a nose for the ball.

Positive game considering. The three turnovers I can not frown upon since it's his first game.

Why hasn't he played the last 2 games???? I didn't read anything about him getting hurt again. Is it just a coaches DNP?

Probably wasn't going to play in his first back to back game.
I thought he would play yesterday, but LP kept the rotation tight to 9 - we needed a win.

I'd love to see more OO but don't wanna rush any more stress on his foot. We are going to need his interior toughness the rest of the way.

Would love to see Agent 0017 against Detroit. Hawks are favored. He might cost us the game.
Therefore, as we saw in the last two games, he sits. Shades of some of our previous coaches
that didn't believe in rookie players.

Gramps I’m sweating more to get him out there for you because Haliburton is putting up over 5 assists a game in 28 minutes as a rookie. :o I hope Lloyd is just easing him back. He should get some burn tonight. He needs to impress you Gramps as your boy in Sacramento is lighting it up!

Pierce might be getting some tightness in an anal area with his contract coming to an end and Ressler and Travis expecting playoffs

Is it just me or does he look a bit small on the court?

He's 6'8", so he's kinda on the small side for his position.

He’s 6’9” but low to the ground tree trunk legs like OG, African gift of leg power, well for most. He’s a power plug, and intelligent that’s what we are going to love in the future.

Listed as "maybe" for tonight's game. Hawk fans get to see the player that they gave away and only got Cam and Trae in return.
Agent 0017 - Get well soon. We need you!

:D
