Re: Around the League: 2020 Offseason
There are a ton of really terrible defensive teams this year, and when their offense doesn’t click on all cylinders it is ugly.

Re: Around the League: 2020 Offseason
What I notice is there’s a lot of guys who wouldnt be getting playing time in a normal NBA regular season that are getting minutes.
And these guys are just not prepared to slow down NBA stars. Specially without the summer league and preseason. We kind of saw that when Biid against the Pistons.
Its as if its a slightly watered down league with a couple of expansion teams.
And this first half of the season is just a really looooong preseason and its on the second half of the season (not yet released) when it gets serious for maybe 70-80% of the teams.
Thats how i feel about this season.

Just missed out on that chance to cash in. Probably couldn't convince James of being excited to go to NO, however, since they are hot trash so far this year.

I don't know what he was thinking with team build. Wonder if Elton was a consultant for them.

I dont know man..
But those lakers and bucks picks and worth much.
And his player trade chips is lonzo, bledsoe, hayes and who?
I’m assuming Ingram and Zion are untouchable.
Zion is not even that good and pose some BIG questions with his health and defense.
I find Pel’s assets are overrated.
The only way they can make a splash with those paper assets is some big time player asking to be traded to the Pels, where pels puts a package of low first round picks and fillers (bledsoe) then lonzo as sweetener.

Ingram should be available. Zion is a lead guard's dream, especially one with PnR dominance. He doesn't need the ball in his hands to create and he'll convert assists consistently throughout the game if given space.
Also, they have a bunch of win now pieces: Bledsoe, Adams, Ball, Redick
Along with some high upside pieces: NAW, Hayes, Kira Lewis, the endless picks.
I firmly believe they would have been an option for Harden at the end of Feb when Ingram was available if they were still able to sneak into playoff contention. Right now, the Ingram/Zion identity is kinda weird.
Side note: should we consider making a move for Bledsoe? This year has been kind of rough for him, but that's likely a product of his surrounds. Still shooting 40% on volume; also has a history of getting to the line at a decent FTr. Was quite good on the Bucks. If the Pelicans want to make a big splash in upcoming free agency, we could trade them Danny Green + second rounder for him (Bledsoe still has 3 years left on his contract). It's kind of hard for me to gauge Bledsoe's worth.

Ingram and Zion have the same issue Ben and Joel has. Neither seems to be able to thrive at the same time as the other.

I think he's an awful fit unless you're turning him into your Sixth man and making Shake a starter. Too crappy of a shooter to fit well on this roster.

Seems like they have the same issue as Ben and Jo last year where their GM inexplicably decided to put together the worst shooting backcourt in the league and a center that doesn't shoot outside of the paint with them. They've got talent, but the fit is just awful.

If we're moving on from Danny Green in hypothetical trade, then yes, Shake moves to starter and we have an actual on-ball 6th man that can pick up the scoring slack when Embiid, Tobias, Simmons, or Shake aren't producing. Definitely the type of guy you need on a championship team. We could have used someone like him last night tbh. Also gives Maxey some time to develop and learn from a similar player.

Re: Around the League: 2020 Offseason
About the all star game this season, they should just put it at the end of the playoffs, probably two or three days after the last game of the finals. Have all of the all star participants be in the bubble 1 week before the all star game. It can be used to celebrate all of the accomplishments this season. For the all star players who are also in the finals, just let them play a minute or two, here and there, if they are too tired.

Has anyone considered, through all of this woe is bradley, that Beal just doesn't contribute all that much to winning?

Maybe, but who could win with that team?
always a jump shot away.

That's because he's not a good creator. Just puts up a bunch of empty stats on terrible teams while being heavily assisted. Take away his jumper and he'd be Gary Harris with no defense.

To be fair, that’s a pretty big thing to “take away”.

The Heat are digging themselves quite the hole. Imagine if we end up getting the #1 seed but have the play them in round #1.
