Trying to nab Thad Young and possibly Garrett Temple from Chicago would be the move. Maybe Holiday has an in with Young going back to their 76ers days.

The entire Grizzlies' roster is full of usable guys, many of whom they're not using. (They're not using anybody right now, of course, but that's not what I mean.)

That they do. Maybe Jenkins will give his old boss Bud a deal.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
We would be able to make this trade at the deadline:
https://tradenba.com/trades/0lLJGxD4k
Sign Ariza if OKC buys him out.
Brook/Portis/Kornet/Diakite
Giannis/Young/Thanasis
Middleton/Ariza/Nwora
DDV/Forbes/Nowell
Jrue/Merrill/Adams
Bolded would be the rotation in the playoffs ideally.

Sign Ariza, skip the rest. Young is done. Ariza would be the reserve 4 as the game gets smaller and quicker.

It looks like a very hard endeavour but we should attempt to dodge the tax this year. Clearing DJ1 + DJ2 and replacing them with minimum players would get us there.

Why? That does nothing to affect the basketball product. Who cares about how much the owners make? They deserve to pay a a penance for all there screw ups.

How much the owners make will have impacts on how much they'll be willing to spend. Clearing 7m this year saves multiple tens of millions in the future while I don't think the impact on the floor is that noticeable.

Is there an argument related to salary exceptions as well? Because if delaying the tax for one year allows them to spend more next summer, you could definitely argue that more payroll flexibility would improve the on-court product more than DJA and DJW.
Alternatively, George Hill and Mike Muscala are almost a perfect salary match and positional match for DJA and DJW. Makes the Bucks better on the court this year and better on the books next summer. I believe the Bucks would have to throw in Nwora or Merrill because they're hard-capped and because OKC is losing the trade otherwise, but I'd be fine with that.
ETA: I have proposed this once before but I'm concerned that there was some bridge-burning with George Hill.

I don't think they can trade for George Hill this year.
"A team cannot reacquire a player they traded away during that season (a season being July 1 - June 30). If he is waived by his new team, then he cannot re-sign with his original team until the one-year anniversary of the trade, or until the July 1 following the end of his contract, whichever comes first. However, if a team trades a player's draft rights, they can reacquire the player during the same season."
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

Thanks. I knew that was in one of the old CBA's but for some reason I didn't think it was in this one. I'm not really sure what loophole they're trying to close with that rule so I guess that's why I forgot about it.
I really want to clear DJA's salary so they can re-sign Jrue and still hopefully have enough exception money to play with. I still find it pretty disappointing that they traded Hill considering how perfectly he fit on their roster and payroll. I think they could have easily included Ersan and DJW in the Jrue deal instead, thus effectively paying Hill instead of DJA, but Ersan and DJW were tied up in the failed Bogdan deal. Bad misplay there.

I think this is the perfect time to sell high on Brook to the Warriors. They started Looney instead of Wiseman. Something is going on there and as I said splash mountain belongs to the Warriors.
Get Wiggins here Horst. They don't need his scoring as much as we do. We give Wiggins 30min as a 6th man and he delivers near 25+ points. Our Starting Center would be Portis moving forward. Explore for Markannen , Muscala, and Noah Vonleh is FA.
PS Horst&Bud, don't even think bringing washed up Bazemore here, or I am rioting

This is not even possible, how do you propose bringing in a $29.5 million contract, Brook is at $12.6? You could probably get Oubre Jr from the Warriors for Brook and DJW but that is about it. Finding trades that actually work financially instead of just throwing names out is a much better place to start.

No argument for exceptions as far as I know. We'll have only the tax MLE available assuming Jrue resigns.

I propose outgoing 31.1 / 29.5 incoming
Brook,Pat,Forbes,DJA,DJW for Wiggins and we save 1.6M to open up salary for minimum contracts. After 23 Feb it can be done , Trade Deadline is on March

You are trading away 80 mpg on a team where people are complaining about not being deep enough. Of the guys traded you are sending almost 55 bench mpg out the door, on top of promoting Portis from the bench to the starter. Risky move.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Yea you'd essentially be trading everyone for Wiggins who is just ok. You'd think there is a comparable guy who lines up better with Brook's contract. Take a Ross in Orlando, someone of that nature. Or Tim Hardaway type situation when he was on NYK. Not good enough to be the man or a star but still can get bucks. A guy like Levert would fit there but he's out. Lavine in CHI is one that pops in my head.

I hate to say it but JJ Redick is available now and Skiles won’t play Tobes because he still has a lot of baby fat on him and he’s never gonna earn a rotation spot because he can’t play defense so maybe Hammond could... wait what?

Would obviously love JJ on the Bucks but salary wise the only deal that works is Brook and there's no way you do that without getting a starting quality Center in return. I'd be interested in something at the deadline around Pat/DJ/Brook for Lonzo/JJ but I doubt the Pelicans would.

I thought there was something else related to being a tax team two years in a row, like losing the BAE or something. I think they used it this year and won't have it until 2022 anyway, but it still might be an argument for avoiding the tax this year if they can do it without hurting the team. Paying the tax next year only would preserve the BAE if I'm right about this, but Coon's CBA FAQ site has been down for a long time and I can't easily check.
Probably a moot point since they lack depth and will need a PG to replace DJA. I don't like him much but you can't count on replacing him with a vet min deal or a buyout.
