Hypothetical Lonzo Trades
Lonzo
Melli
For
Delon Wright
McGruder
Ellington
They get 3 guys who would all be in their rotation in exchange for Lonzo. Melli is just an expiring cap filler

Sign me up! I know that DRose is a way better player, but I would love if the Pistons trade for lom o, while getting some assets trading Rose. We’re supposed to be bad this season, why not give Lonzo a shot!

"The people in Detroit are great. I love the fans, but the franchise over there is raggedy as hell," LaVar Ball said Monday. "They don't know a good player."

LaVar burned that bridge with his comments after his son got cut. I would be ok with Lonzo but I would also understand why he isn't a piece Detroit would want to persue. He's already a 3 year vet as well he has one more year before hitting the FA market.

To this day I’m still not sure why we signed LiAngelo. He never even saw preseason action.

Re: Hypothetical Lonzo Trades
Meh, Lavarr doesn't concern me at all.
The thing that does concern me regarding a trade for Lonzo, is him slated for restricted free agency in a market that will have plenty of available cash and not a lot of notable free agents that are less than 30 years old.

Lavar didn't burn that bridge. Lonzo not being what this team is looking for is enough for this to not happen.bstein14 wrote:LaVar burned that bridge with his comments after his son got cut. Hasn't Zo regressed this year? And he's due for an extension?
Hard pass.

He has regressed this year, but he's now playing under SVG - we know how that can go. As far as dad saying smack that doesn't matter, he's been doing that for a long time. I don't see how it burned any bridges, because truth is, outside of selling headlines, his words are irrelevant.
Pistons though may not pursue this for the same reason they traded Kennard - any upcoming deal may not be worth it.

Melo trained in Detroit and gave like 10 interviews saying how much he would love to play for the Pistons
Detroit did absolutely nothing to try and get Melo from the Hornets -- we had the assets (Seko, Kennard, 1st, four 2nds, Rose, future 1st) and the cap space to absorb Batum (would have saved MJ tons of money on the buyout he ended up agreeing to)
I wouldnt be happy with our franchise either if my son was basically begging to come there and we didnt do anything to try to meet that request
And let's be real "raggedy as hell" is pretty generous when you look at what we have done since 2008 as a franchise

Ball has been horrible this year - as in worse than Sekou. 29 percent from three.
Pels problem is they can’t shoot. Redick has been bad too and Adams has no range.
So if the Pistons are really trying to lose and the Pels want to win.....
Ellington
Rose
Svi
For
Ball
A scrub
2 second round picks
Who says no? Shooters for New Orleans and a bricklayer for Detroit. If Ball somehow gets good, either offer a MLE type deal or trade him again this season. At least you get two second rounders out of the deal.
If the Pels decide to tank, there’s no trade to be had.

Re: Hypothetical Lonzo Trades
Just what we need a another chucker to go with Blake who cant shoot. Ball shooting 7.2 3pa shooting 29%. Blake 6.4 3pa 32%

Re: Hypothetical Lonzo Trades
Lonzo actually shot a nice percentage from 3 on high volume last season , this might be a good buy low candidate. If it doesn't work out, we let him go in the offseason (don't extend a QO).
That said, he's paid a lot of money so I wouldn't give up any long term assets for him. D-rose and someone like Mcgruder? Why not...

I dont think anyone is arguing that Lavar didnt have every right to say that. It just doesnt make sense to trade for his other son if that's his opinion of the franchise.

I thought he got hurt shortly afterwards, which was why we never saw him play.
