"New York and the Clippers are among interested teams in Pistons guard Derrick Rose, sources said. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has a long history with Rose, coaching the former league MVP in Chicago and Minnesota."

Still, the trade market is beginning to pick up pace with two key dates approaching:

Feb. 2: the last day a player can be traded and still be aggregated in a multi-player transaction at the March 25 trade deadline.

Feb. 6: most players who signed free-agent contracts in the offseason can begin to be traded.

A team that is expected to be prominent in the trade market picture, rival teams expect: The New Orleans Pelicans. The franchise is off to an uneven 5-10 start to the season. New Orleans has been receiving calls about the availability of Lonzo Ball and JJ Redick and has shown an openness to discussing trades around both with interested teams, sources tell The Athletic.

Would prefer defense but I could see the reasoning. I doubt anything happens until the road trip is over

Rose would be an interesting fit, if the Pistons would take Lou + 2nd round picks I think its a no-brainer.

Rose/Bev
George/Kennard
Leonard
Batum/Morris
Ibaka/Zubac

That's as solid a 9-man playoff rotation that we can hope for this year IMO. Rose and Kennard aren't great defenders by any means but they at least have some size and aren't an obvious hole defensively like Lou is. I know the starter's have been playing well and a 3&D guy like George Hill is more appealing at the point, but I think we'll need another guy who can make things happen off the dribble in the playoffs when the game slows down, the opponent is more strategic about how they rotate on D which cuts off some of the easy extra passes we've been making, etc. I really like the idea of having Rose and limiting he and Beverly to 24 minutes a game.
