There has to be a competent big they can grab for nothing if Lopez is traded. Having Portis for 25 mins already you just need someone to play 20ish mins. In theory Lopez could make sense in NO for the same reason he fit with Giannis and leave the lane open for Zion. But, them taking on two more years of salary might not make sense.

I think this is the perfect time to sell high on Brook to the Warriors. They started Looney instead of Wiseman. Something is going on there and as I said splash mountain belongs to the Warriors.

Get Wiggins here Horst. They don't need his scoring as much as we do. We give Wiggins 30min as a 6th man and he delivers near 25+ points. Our Starting Center would be Portis moving forward. Explore for Markannen , Muscala, and Noah Vonleh is FA.

This is not even possible, how do you propose bringing in a $29.5 million contract, Brook is at $12.6? You could probably get Oubre Jr from the Warriors for Brook and DJW but that is about it. Finding trades that actually work financially instead of just throwing names out is a much better place to start.

Still can't do it. You have to have at least 14 standard contracts and this would take us down to 10.

Honestly would rather just play DJ so he could get into game shape and maybe get better. The upside of that happening would help us way more in the playoffs than Muscala.

Why? That does nothing to affect the basketball product. Who cares about how much the owners make? They deserve to pay a a penance for all there screw ups.

How much the owners make will have impacts on how much they'll be willing to spend. Clearing 7m this year saves multiple tens of millions in the future while I don't think the impact on the floor is that noticeable.

Is there an argument related to salary exceptions as well? Because if delaying the tax for one year allows them to spend more next summer, you could definitely argue that more payroll flexibility would improve the on-court product more than DJA and DJW.

Alternatively, George Hill and Mike Muscala are almost a perfect salary match and positional match for DJA and DJW. Makes the Bucks better on the court this year and better on the books next summer. I believe the Bucks would have to throw in Nwora or Merrill because they're hard-capped and because OKC is losing the trade otherwise, but I'd be fine with that.

Hill isn't shooting 45%+ from three again this year, but he has been playing well lately and hasn't hit that cliff i was ranting about.

Hill is playing too much of a featured role for them. He's one of those glue guys who is meant to be a 4th-best starter or key back-up on a contender. I think his numbers would still be fine on the Bucks, but he went from getting tons of open looks to being one of the go-to guys on that team. 45% was probably a fluke, but he's a very good shooter and would be a good bet to keep hitting ~40% at worst on the Bucks.

Besides the random tweet, he did an interview where he implied that the Bucks might have traded him because they were pissed about the protest game. I like Hill but I thought was petty to even suggest it might be true. The Bucks were clearly under a ton of pressure after the bubble debacle to sacrifice depth for a better playoff rotation and you don't need any more explanation than that for the trade.

I guess it's a moot point because they can't reacquire him in the same year they traded him unless he's waived and the Bucks claim him, which won't happen because they're hard-capped.

No argument for exceptions as far as I know. We'll have only the tax MLE available assuming Jrue resigns.

I thought there was something else related to being a tax team two years in a row, like losing the BAE or something. I think they used it this year and won't have it until 2022 anyway, but it still might be an argument for avoiding the tax this year if they can do it without hurting the team. Paying the tax next year only would preserve the BAE if I'm right about this, but Coon's CBA FAQ site has been down for a long time and I can't easily check.

He’d be great coming off the bench to be honest. If we could swing something for him while giving up Augustin and whatever else, it’d be great. We’d have a great passer and playmaker next to Giannis who can throw lobs. He’d be a great pickup, but I don’t think they’re taking any deal that doesn’t have Brook or Donte attached.

Nance and Bjelica are good trade candidates. Maybe Gay gets bought out and we can swoop in but a lot of buyout guys are probably licking their lips looking at how desperate Brooklyn is for bigs or just a better bench. Granted we are too, they’re just the hot destination right now in the East which sucks.
