there was never a chance we would get him. Kevin Porter Jr is low character player and we all know jones only acquire high character players like JC used to.

What do people think of this idea?
To stop players from forcing their ways to specific teams, what if there was a new rule where, if you ask/demand a trade, you give your GM a list of at least 10 teams you'd be willing to go to and if that team offers you a max extension, you have to take it.
They can offer you an extension of 2-5 years at max money. If you really don't wanna stay, you say 'I'll sign the 2 year extension' (as long as the trading team is good with that too). That way you are forced to play for 2 additional years (which is now likely 3 or more years since you're tacking it onto the existing deal). This prevents the player from leaving and gives the trading team hope of convincing them to stay and not worry that they just traded a ton of assets for a rental.
If they offer the 5 years, the player has no choice but to take it at that point. If they offer the player 4 or less, you can still decide to back out and try being traded to another team, on the list of 10, who will give you the extra year.

Players union will never go for it. I'm not a fan of how much power the players have, but a lot of that is also on owners/GMs for accommodating it. Teams are terrified of the 'disgruntled star' and look to facilitate moves for those types of players to get some kind of value in return.

I do not think there is problem in the league. No need to change anything IMO.
Players will always find the way to play for whaterver team they want to play. And if a player is under a long term contract his team will get a lot of assets trading him, so it is always a win-win situation.

Hey guys, Should we have any interest in pursuing a trade for Lonzo Ball ( specifically) or even Redick?
Could Ball be the answer to our bench guard needs, And eventually take over for Paul after next season? Could Redick perhaps help our backup shooting guard needs? Do we even have the assets to explore such a scenario?

Is anyone on Suns that's worth value worth trading for broken Lonzo and old Reddick?

Of course it depends upon what they'd be asking for? But we supposedly have depth to explore this? Just curious as to what everyone would consider a reasonable exchange?

Carter, Galloway, Moore and maybe Smith + 2nd round picks. These are the assets (in some kind of form) I would be okay with giving up for Lonzo and/or Reddick. I wouldn't want to give up anyone from our rotation and that's most likely not enough for Pelicans to pull the trigger.
If Cam Payne comes back to his old self I think he brings more value than Lonzo. Basically, I would pass on this trade.

I wouldn't trade Crowder or Cam for either. Carter doesn't make enough and may have to go to. I can't imagine trading anyone else that makes enough salary.
Which players of those were you thinking of trading when asking?

I dunno if I want 4 years of Bertans....he's become the contract guy that's gonna coast for the next 3 years until he's in a contract year...again.

I probably wouldn't trade for both of them, really just looking at one or the other. And I'd lean towards Ball due to age/ playmaking upside mostly. But outside of our rotation players, I suppose that I might be willing to surrender ( at most) a package of:
Carter, Nader, Moore and a top 10 2023 protected first round pick? ( Not that they'd probably accept that package)
But honestly, I was just curious as to percieved value that either ( Ball/ Redick) might warrant currently in a trade?

I am concerned we are on that Minnesota trajectory, bad to mediocre then make a try to make the playoffs trade (CP3 is their Jimmy Butler) in our case we don't even make the playoffs then the trade blows up in our face and we go back to the bottom or mediocrity.

I kept saying this while the trade was being talked about. That maybe we get a taste of the playoffs one year or possibly two, CP3 is gone, we regress again, miss the playoffs, and Booker wants out.
I really hope they have a post CP3 plan. I really do not like trying to take short cuts when you are not ready if it very well could cost you long term. That's why I thought it wiser to keep Rubio, especially when you can keep a first rounder and use Oubre to trade for another piece that fits our core.
Anyway, we did what we did. We'll see what happens.

Too bad we have to say this in this manner after every JJ move.
