I'm calling attention to the play because:

-- First Nesmith hopped aimlessly on one foot a couple of times, watching whether the shot fell.
-- Then he ran for a couple of paces down the court with no special urgency.
-- Only then did he go into an all-out sprint, arriving under the opposing basket just in time to break up the Bull's fast break.

I.e., it was an admirably good play and yet also one that he has a lot of upside from as he matures.

Yeah and that shot, while it's always been a struggle. I cringe when he has to relocate on passes.

Yet he's made quite a few shots last night where it was just a stand still catch and shoot opportunity.

As you said, and as a lot of people keep saying as this year is an exception, it's excusable for him to read the floor slowly.

Honestly I'm way more concerned with his inability to play even passing defense than his shot at this point. But hopefully that will come with reads too.

Stackhouse was said to be playing an NBA offense in college but alas college is still college. And going from a starter there and last year getting fed often to a role player on a team is a change along with the pace of the NBA game being so much faster than the infinite time you get on the shot clock in college.

Where did I say he was a rotational piece in the playoffs? And if our rooks can't beat him out for minutes that is more of an indictment of them than Green. You need youngsters to earn minutes, not just get them handed out.

didn't mean to imply you said that. Just that Javonte is more than Europe but less than an NBA playoff level contributor.

If a team invests in a lottery pick, which I consider a big investment, and I must also presume they did a lot of Homework on that player, it is in the best interest of the team and player to take steps in seeing that player develops as soon as he can.

So IMO a player develops far better with hard work at practice and IN GAME EXPERIENCE. anything less than that slows the progression.

I think with injuries and Covid, he is an excellent end of the bench player who is good enough to fill in for many in short spurts. If he was a MUCH better shooter I'd be screaming for him to start. But despite some flashes, he doesn't appear the catch and shoot type. Who knows in a year or 2. See J Brown
