Who is the Strongest Player in NBA History? - Ultimate Mixtape!

Post#1 » by 70sFan » Wed Jan 27, 2021 5:09 pm

This mixtape shows the highlights of three strongest players in NBA history - Wilt Chamberlain, Artis Gilmore and Shaquille O'Neal. It also contains some quotes and anectodes about all of them - the amount of them proves that these three are beyond anyone else in this aspect.

I also used old picture made by WCA of Wilt and Shaq scaled image - I added Artis Gilmore with his physical measurements:

The most impressive thing about Shaq, to me, was always how few of his opponents he injured. He was awesome (in the full sense of the word) to watch play basketball. I usually rank him between 5th and 7th when I make an all time list.
All human life on the earth is like grass, and all human glory is like a flower in a field. The grass dries up and its flower falls off, but the Lord’s word endures forever.

Most injuries happens when opponent isn't prepared for initiated contact. Players were prepared for Shaq playing physical.

I have Shaq personally 8th all-time, with Wilt at 6th place and Gilmore somewhere inside top 40.

Come on, Gilmore played over 2 decades of professional basketball. Who cares that Wicks blocked 6 shots of young Gilmore?

Others might have been able to bench more, but nobody used their strength and physicality quite like Shaq. His whole section is just him monstering absolutely huge dudes.

When the refs wouldn't let Shaq run over defenders, he was neutralized.

This can be said about all three players - Wilt had Thurmond, Bellamy, Kareem and others in his section, Gilmore's section contains Kareem, Lanier, Parish, Sampson, Duckworth...

Karl Malone has to be included in this discussion. Along with Darryl Dawkins and Maurice Lucas. Can't forget Ben Wallace either.

One guy who is hardly ever mentioned because he was a bad basketball player is Kwame Brown. He was VERY strong. I remember watching a game years ago in which Shaq tried to back him down and he couldn't- Kwame just held his ground firmly.

Shaq had too much explosive fibers and some kinda crazy bone density for his playing weight to be what it was. No one's touching Shaq in strength ever lol. Don't give me Artis Filmore his prime playing weight was like 30lbs less than Shaq. Wilt was plenty strong but Shaq is just too massive.
LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

Gilmore wasn't as explosive, but he was absolutely immovable. I don't agree that the mass is the only thing that matters in this comparison.

Parish played against both Shaq and Gilmore and he said Shaq was the 2nd strongest he ever played against. That would have been 93 or so when I saw the quote.
