Chipper Jones and "strained oblique" are about the last thing the Braves needed to hear in the same sentence during their faltering postseason bid.
The veteran third baseman strained his right oblique in batting practice Monday and was scratched for the opener of a crucial series against the Mets, which the Braves lost 3-2.
Chipper said it could be two days or a week. He said it wasn't as severe as the pain he felt when he pulled his left oblique in 2006, which led to two stints on the disabled list.
