This is so obvious that I can't understand why there is any discussion of it at all.
It might be useful to discuss the actually possible future of our actual team.
We are REBUILDING from the MESS created by more than a decade and a half of horrible work by the FO.
We are, essentially, STARTING OVER. We have one extremely good player (not a superstar but dxmned good anyway). From there on, it's a big drop off. Westbrook is terrible, Lopez is a corpse, Neto is a meh journeyman at best, Gill is a zero, Davis Bertans has one skill (if he finds it again) -- he is NOT a reliably above average NBA player. Ish Smith, Jerome Robinson & Moritz Wagner are just names.
Our 2d best player is Thomas Bryant who is seriously injured. Rui is way way short of starter level. Brown, Bonga & Avdija are gifted but extremely young.
That leaves Jordan Bell, Alex Len, Garrison Mathews & Cassius Winston.
What is the point of imagining we can acquire Karl Anthony Towns & become a good team?
