Let's give Darryl 1 more summer to fix it, OK?

Tobias and Simmons are #3 on a championship team.
You can argue if Joel has become a #1 (to be seen if he can carry us to W's against elite teams too from time to time).

2 options:
You trade for another #1 (Harden was a chance) which is not easy
You trade for a #2 (Beal could be that) without giving up too much depth

My only remaining question is: which #3 do I prefer: Tobias or Ben. Tobias can do a bit of everything, is a decent defender for a PF. Ben is a jack of all trades without an offensive game but gives you enormous flexibility.

Given you’re thorn, means both are OK as #3.

The question now is which one would the team with the #2 want between the two of them.

Think that it will be Simmons.

To be fair, I don't see LaVine as a #2

Then ask for more than Lavine. Ask Lavine and 6 first round picks if you want

This is all solvable if we hijack Westbrook’s mind and put it into Bens body lol.

23+/9/8/2/1 with DPOY defence every night at minumum. By god it would be a sight to behold. It’d be like the most aggressive bens ever played times ten lol. He’d get to the line at least 9 times game. Shoot about 20% from three but jeez it would be entertaining as hell. He’d even start dunking on everyone just coz lmao.

We all know that Tobias Harris is 3rd best option on offense on a championship team. Nothing more, nothing less.

Doc Rivers turned him into the type of player he really is. Consistent 20 PPG RS player.

What we really lack is a a guard willing to be 2 option on offensive end.

This. Was about to post something similar in the other thread. I'm in the keep Tobias camp for that reason. He's exactly what we need as a #3. The problem is not having the #2 yet.

I think Tobias is a better 3rd option than Ben, so i would rather swap Simmons for a start guard than Tobias( Tobias contract is kinda untradable too. ) . If we could get Beal or Lavine + pick i would trade him.

Harris is a good scorer and defender, giving a good scoring option and a good 3 pt shooter.

Ben is a defensive specialist, who passes well for his size, but is useless scoring.
If we trade Ben we just need a good defensive Sf and we almost replicate Simmons output. Yeah hes a good passer, but he's not a PG. His usefulness is overated, since he will never be a decent scorer.

I wouldnt go that far hahaha

Maybe its was a little bit of a hyperbole. But prime Terry was a good and proven scorer who could create some shots and play the PnR effectively with Nowitzky. He was for sure more reliable than Seth or Shake. He would average 20 ppg playing in this team and in this era.

Still Dallas pulled a very unlikely championship that year and never were even close to win another one. Its nearly imposible to win in the NBA if you are relying heavily in a Jason Terry calibeer of player. It was an absolute outlier.

He has been good this year, primarily because he has been hot from from 3 shooting 45%. He will surely regress there. At least he has mostly stopped his dumb fadeaways. The bad news are that he has even less fts than last year, which would be a way to become a more reliable scorer. In fact, the entire team, other than EMbiid, is terrible at drawing fouls.

"Their FT rate is third best in the league, at 22.1 attempts per 100 field goal attempts. Way up from their 20th rank last year at just 19.4. Embiid has been an absolute force.

Thanks to a pair of familiar names, both Joel Embiid (5th in the league in free throw rate) and Ben Simmons (9th overall)."

This is from a an article written five days ago. The author suggested Sixers should watch out for the turnovers and cut down on the long 2's. The Sixers rank 27th in the league in turnovers per game.

Of course, this is probably distorted because it is still early in the season...

Tobias is playing great ball. The 3 is falling and he's playing solid enough defensively.

I still can't help but look at him and think his salary slot needs to being going to a perimeter creator.

Yep, we would be miles better with a player like Middelton(who overall as a player is in Tobias tier but with a much more advanced perimeter game).

It''s good to see Tobias playing better his season. It was expected given our new coach and roster construction, still it's very good news for us.

I've always been a Tobi defender and defender of Brand for getting him. But I'm definitely surprised at this turnaround. He's a for sure all star player this season. His shooting now is what Brand traded for, and his defense last year was surprisingly good, this year it's a damn strength. Definitely he's better as a pf, but he can even hold his own against quicker wings and his team defense is certainly improved.

Max him out

Doc says : "Tobias be a closer!"
Tobias : "No problem Doc!"

Doc is the Tobias whisperer

There's no whispering with Doc. Only pulling the mask down yelling.

 Hope he can sustain his confidence and 3 pt shooting. His shooting will cooldown a bit, since his % is 0.460, but if he keeps it over 0.400 it will be great still. Imagine if he can be a decent closer? It would be huge for us, since it´s hard for Embiid to get the ball in the post in the end of the game, and Ben will neve be a closer anyways. He made some tough shots yesterday, i´m impressed.
