The one game they won: Beal took 22 shots and had 9 assists and 1 turnover
No one is a “bad fan” for pointing something like this out.
In those 5 losses:
Not Beal: 326 points, .504 TS%, 54 turnovers, 0.86 points per possession
Beal: - - - 212 points, .604 TS%, 21 turnovers, 1.08 points per possession
Tell me again what Beal did wrong?
Obviously, my point is that when Beal moves the ball, it makes his teamates better. It’s crazy how personally offended you get when someone says “Beal should play defense and move the ball”
Also, just wanted to throw this out there. ESPN released the RPM ratings today: http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/page/3/sort/DRPM/position/2
I take those DRPM numbers, particularly for wings, with a healthy grain of salt. Defense is system dependent and team dependent. Pat Connington is not the best defensive shooting guard in the league. He just happens to play alongside Jrue, Giannis and Lopez.
Just like Davis Bertans didn't go from being the 40th best defensive small forward in San Antonio to 95th best (5th from last) in Washington. And JJ Redick didn't go from being the 78th best defensive shooting guard in Philly to 137th (2nd to last) in New Orleans.
