KP could retire tomorrow and that trade is still awful on every level.

How? We would have traded away a broken retired player for 2 first round picks, it would have been a great trade if he retires tomorrow

Actually it would be a worse trade for us if he retires tomorrow because the Mavs are better without him and they might be able to get out of his contract with some kind of disabled player exception instead of having to eat the max contract

Getting 2 middling first round picks and a scrub for a guy who still had very high value around the league will always be a terrible trade. Don't try and justify arguably the worst trade in franchise history. We had an asset and we wasted it.

Wiseman talking a little spicy already

Ayton coming off a week where he was nominated for western conference player of the week. Wiseman coming off a career high game. Should be a good battle

Yeah they’re too inside their heads on this one. Honestly KP appears to be mostly mirage.

He’s now an actual unicorn — meaning he’s not real lol. What he does is not really that impactful.

Look at it this way: If the choice was ONLY maxing or letting him go, which we know it would have been absent the trade, then I think letting him go was the BETTER of those TWO options only.

If he can’t do big things next to Luka his NY career would have turned into yet another mess.

Ha that’s nowhere near the worst trade in Knick history. Not by a mile.

"What a game, these two young bigs are really going at it, Wiseman with 36, 14, and 3 midway through the fourth while Ayton has a 26/ 22 game under his belt!!!!!!!"

There's always a way to lose.

They had to max Rapezingis out. That trade is horrible for the Mavs. They’re better with him off of the floor. Point blank period. If they hand over a high lottery pick, it’s an absolute fleecing.

Rapezingis. Classy.

This trade will never be a fleecing unless we get consecutive lottery picks.

Nah, it's pretty close. Much closer than a mile.

Of course it's hard to argue because there is not much you've insulted the Knicks about in the last 20 years.

I’ve insulted a lot, including being skeptical about KP before the trade. He’s not really making a very noticeable impact, which says a lot because if there’s one good rule of thumb it’s that great players make their teammates look a lot better ... not worse.

Not really, not even the knicks were absurd enough to hire a mediocre coach to keep their star player happy

deshaun was gone regardless of who they hired. the texans handled this worse, but i'm referring to failing to build around a young promising player and then them demanding a trade

the trade is still not a good one b/c they prioritized clearing cap space instead of getting a better return. however, the trade can still work out better for the Knicks based on what they did w/ the cap savings (sign Morris which turned into IQ and the Pistons 2nd. I still think w/ KP they would've pursued Randle), and how those picks turn out

I think when all is said and done, we will come out on top b/c we're better off now for having the assets that we have and cap flexibility

Bargnani is a better shooter than KP. The Mavs maxed out the modern day Andrea.
